Edge Products 15001 Evolution Programmer for Ford Powerstroke 7.3L

Excellent product! I have a 2000 Ford F350 with the 7.3 powerstroke turbo diesel engine and only 86,000 miles on the odometer. At 235 HP I wanted a little more power when pulling my 38' fifth wheel camper. The option of buying a later model truck with more power had the drawback, of a less reliable engine because of added antipollution components, and the fact that the 7.3 is a proven reliable work horse.The option of a tuner made sense. I chose the Edge tuner because: Option "0" allows me to set it back to stock tuning, option 1, is a very safe tuning mode that adds 65 HP, and puts my engine in the 300 hp range (25% increase) Diagnostic feature allows the read fault codes and their history.The pod fits perfectly and does not look like an add-on after market product.If that was not good enough, it came with two instructions and installation manuals, one for the pod and one for the programmer. Both manuals include easy and detailed instructions, with added pictures and sketches. First class in every aspect.

I did a little research and found this to be the best tuner for the money. You can build custom programs if you want but I see myself just using the packaged programs. I have only used "level 1" so far because I haven't done anything with the exhaust yet but towing my 5th wheel recently the truck obviously performed better and got noticeably better mileage. I also ate a Dodge for breakfast on one of the better known hills in the area. I am looking forward to using "level 2" once I have some exhaust on it.Installation: The only problem I had was getting the TC wire through the firewall. My truck does not have a bunch of holes in the firewall to choose from, as the instructions would suggest. I eventually looped it through the hole in the floor for my transfer case shifter and under the carpet back to the dash. Not as clean and kind of a pain but should work out OK.

The power gains are immediate and an incredible benifit. I keep it on the highest setting all the time. Make sure you are in 4 wheel drive and pointed in a straight line when you decide to floor it otherwise your 8000 pound F350 gets real oversteer. However even when behaving myself and driving normally my MPG only went from 15.1 average to 15.2 noMatter what setting. That is the only disappointment. Definitely I recommend this. Cold air intakes and a GTP38R would put more O2 in the combustion chamber and clear up smoke on full acceleration and give lower EGT as well. Great for the power and small improvement to MPG!

Functions as stated. It can not provide you with the claimed hp increase unless your running a modified engine. That said, it reads and clears trouble codes, installation was a breeze and you will notice an increase in performance. Some say this unit will fry your ecm. They are correct, i am showing early signs of this. I have restored my factory program and will purchase an actual chip. I give 2 stars for its ability to read and clear codes as well as it does in fact boost performance. Its only downfall is that it WILL fry your ECM. If you buy this, the instant you feel you are having mechanical issues, restore back to factory settings. Your issue will stop and if your lucky like i was, you wont have to re flash your ecm at a dealer or buy a new one.

About 2 years ago, while pumping fuel while on vacation in Iowa heading back to Washington State, a young man approached me. He had the same truck as I, he was pulling a small boat with a trailer, I was pulling a 10,000 LB 5th wheel. He was so proud of his Edge Evolution Programmer he wanted me to come take a look at his. He was excited on how well it preformed and how easy it was to install. I have been thinking about that unsolicited endorsement ever since, especially when I began to lose power on slight inclines while pulling the trailer and when I buy diesel. After 2 years I finally bought one and couldn't be happier. I can now keep up with traffic while draging the trailer and I'm sure my economy has improved. I don't know by how much since I haven't gone through a whole tank yet with just pulling the trailer or a complete tank without pulling it.The installation was easy. Drilling and taping a hole in the exhaust manifold was a little hard on the nerves, but everything turned out fine. You simply plug it in and you are ready to go.

I mainly bought this to put and leave on the tow performance tune and the pyrometer because my truck does a lot of heavy pulling. The power is definitely noticeable, helps out on hilly roads.Dash pod is nice, sits there like it was from the factory, really easy to place also.Pyrometer was the main reason i bought it thought, it was a breeze to install. Just put some wheel bearing grease on the tip of the drill bit when its about to punch through, and put some cutting oil on the tap to collect any metal shavings and you will be golden.Only drawback is i was hoping i would be able to adjust for tire size, i either can't find it, or its not there. Guess you can't have everything. Still giving it 5 stars.

Nice product looks really good in truck but I put it in to level 2 and made it about 1 mile and blew a high pressure fuel line and oil is pouring out the bellhousing where the tranny meets the motor... Going to be an expensive fix because of this pos

Be aware of stock setting is actually giving pcm slightly more fuel but still great product if u understand your truck
