Great looks and sturdy construction
We picked this fan for its looks. We are rebuilding an 1868 victorian and every piece we select has to fit two criteria: fit the spirit of the rehab and be unusual. This product, with its two blades and spherical, rotating motor housing certainly met the criteria. The great surprise is how well built it is. The unit weighs at least 20 lbs due to its cast iron structure, which affords it great stability. It feels like it will still be around in 150 years... It's also very smooth and quiet. The instructions could be a little clearer but with a little thinking, it was easy to assemble in about 20 minutes.

Beautiful but heavy
Absolutely gorgeous ceiling fan. Very heavy and sturdy. Do not let the only two blades fool you. This thing will circulate air nicely. If it had a remote control, I would give it five stars.

If you enjoy enclosed instructions that in no way match the product
If you enjoy enclosed instructions that in no way match the product, can fabricate some of your own mounting hardware and read gibberish but enjoy viewing an absolutely gorgeous and unique ceiling fan, this may be the one for you!LOVE the fan but not a 'fan' of Hunter product-packers and technical writers. Seriously, it was a challenge. This fan is designed to mount into structure - not an electrical box of - any type. I ended up making my own mount and figuring out everything else on my own and YES, I would do it again. The end result is the center piece of my room now and is the first thing people comment on. I hung it with a `Bronze Scroll 19 1/4" Wide Ceiling Fan Ceiling Medallion' above and effect is perfect! It balanced great right out of the box and provides ample air flow on medium to make me grab for the sheet at night. No remote and I can't say that I miss one.Bu it. Grumble through installation. Then love it.

The lowest ceiling for this shouldn’t be less than 8 1/2 feet
I like the color & design, as well as the ceiling height versatility it offered. It doesn’t mount easily though and wabbles to much even with the adjustment kit. I had to jimmy it against the ceiling with wood shims, in strategic and invisible places to ease away the wabble. But it still makes an intermittent clicking noise from a still present slight wabble. Key parts were also missing and damaged when it arrived. Not worth the hassle for the money and It should have a remote for that price.

Not pleased at all . . .
This fan is beautiful and well built. However, I have been unable to balance it and I'm quite handy with household projects. I've balanced the cheapest of ceiling fans in the past. In my humble opinion, a fan that costs this much shouldn't need to be balanced period. I've been able to balance it enough to run it at low speed but mid-speed has quite the wobble and running it on high is out of the question. If you get one that's properly balanced, you'll love the look and the fan. If not, you're going to be quite perturbed.I came back for an edit as a result of having been asked a question about this fan and its ability to accept a light kit. Someone responded that Hunter Technical Support is advising that this fan won't take a light kit. I've been around a while now and I'm calling b.s. on that and adding a picture to prove it. (If I my overly taxed IT ability will allow the attachment.) Since writing the original review above I took the fan down and mounted it to a 6X6X8 placed across two scaffold ladders in the back yard. It took some doing but I eventually balanced it with a piece of diving weight (lead) that weight several ounces. I then bolted the fan directly to a brace that was installed when we built our house, doing away with the rubber vibration bushing completely. (It's now solid as a rock at all speeds and you could swing from this thing if you so chose but my 'method' will no doubt introduce bearing failure at some point.) With all this said, I will repeat that a fan that costs as much as this one shouldn't require anything more than mounting and admiring. It's a beautiful fan and I love it, which is a bit of a quandary given the 'one star'.

I love this fan
I love this fan!!! second one I have bought for my old Victorian homes I buy and restore, gives the room a sense of antiquity without the noise and intrusion of some of the things our ancestors settled for. I know there are things more authentic and if you have the money, you can buy a restored old fan, but you must make some sacrifices when restoring an old house and this is one of the ways I don't permanently change the character of the house, still get "OLD" looking, and the modern features of perfectly quiet air movement. Its so cool how they have made the fan, so that the whole body (fan housing) spins. IT looks really cool in operation!!

A Simply Beautiful Ceiling Fan
This was a beautiful ceiling fan but we could not use it. We could not use this fan as a replacement on a vaulted ceiling without a complete retro fit of our ceiling. We would have had to cut a large hole and added more bracing and an angled ceiling box and then patch and paint. If you are building a new home or renovating and want to hang this on a vaulted ceiling, do it! It would add so much character to your room.I am so sad and sorry about this. But it does not take away from the beauty and uniqueness of the ceiling fan. Oh well, maybe in the future. 👍🏼
