health and safety is not the most exciting of subjects but some things are unexpected and you wouldn't know them if you didn't read this. it gives you good revision for taking your CSCS and (I think) CPCS tests, half the book is dedicated to CSCS the other half is for specialists. The question and answer format is easy to read, understand and means you can have a friend or family member verbally test you. You don't have to be close to a computer all the time which is great. I will still keep this book if i need to come back to it at some stage. It guarantees you to pass your test and hopefully be a step closer to gaining employment. If your in the construction trades this will be a bible for you. Lots of people say health and safety is common sense but not if it's chemicals, symbols you need to know or what to do in a situation, what to use and how to etc. I think it's essential to buy this to pass the CSCS test, that said, overall i would reccomend this to people wanting to get onto a building site and get a job in construction.

Buying the DVD is a great option if you want to pass the test easily. I starting practicing on my computer 2 days ago, booked the test for today, and came out of the exam in 10 minutes with 100%. And I definitely wasn't rushing or attempting to. There are just under 400 practice questions in the 'preparation' part of the DVD, and the simulated tests at the end are good as well. One thing I liked in the 'practice' part of the software, was that you could choose which topics to be questioned on, and how many questions you want to be asked. When going over the preparation questions, there is a reveal and hide button for the answers. As somebody mentioned before in the review section, try and answer the questions before revealing the answers as most of the test can be done by using common knowledge. If there is a question that is very specific that you can't possibly know by common sense, don't try and guess and just reveal the answer so that it sticks in your head better and so that the other options don't fool you << key tip. And finally, for a lot of the questions in this test, if one of the answers available is 'Report to the Supervisor or Manager', that answer is probably going to be the correct choice. You'll understand when you start practicing :P.

I brought this book thinking it was going to be page after page of information and long paragraphs. However, when I received the book it included just test questions (the ones that are used within the test). At first I thought this was not going to be as useful, but after much deliberation about whether I should order a different book, I decided to work through the questions and see how I got on.Everyone learns differently but I actually preferred just revising from questions and checking if my answers were right. Much easier to revise and memorise than picking out information from paragraphs in my opinion. I am a student so I know how tedious that can be!Needless to say I passed the test first time and it took me 15 minutes, even after checking my answers! So glad I brought this book.

What can I say it is usually read for work. Yawn! The test revision, not the book. This book works well and is better laid out than earlier years. If you work through it diligently and learn the answers it will get you through the test. Being about A5 size it usually fits in a pocket somewhere. Must have if you want to keep the boss happy.

An excellent book to revise from but is expensive, the old one was half the price. The new test is modern and anybody using the old Prometric book will struggle with the test. The DVD is a better option. I managed to get both from The Free Test Company who managed my whole cscs application and test and they like this book comes very recommended.

Bought several copies for postage to various colleagues at different offices. While CITB was a pain to use and wanted my company VAT no as well purchasing via Amazon was quick and easy. Also cheaper than the official website. My only caveat is that you should be very careful and triple check that you have the correct book for the test you are planning to sit. Also check out the free self-testing app and online mock tests available.
