Woodlink WLTUBE10 Caged Mixed Seed Tube Feeder

EDIT: This feeder is perfect for my needs .. I just bought another one (04/19/17).I seem to go through a lot of feeders, because of "night visitors" who destroy them trying to get a free meal. As an old feeder dies, I've been replacing them with caged feeders. This is a great feeder; best I've bought to date - well built with a feed tray. It has tight-fitting metal washers that slide down the handle, and due to binding keep the top on so it can't be lifted up by an animal .. first time I've ever seen that feature - simple but effective. The little birds have no problem with feeder access, while the grackles and blackbirds can only dance around the cage and pick up a few droppings on the perimeter of the tray. So far it has also survived any animal attacks although I haven't seen any evidence that anything has bothered it [knock on wood!!]. The only reason I gave it a "4" and not a "5" is because the tube is only 2.5" in diameter and it seems like I'm constantly filling it ..

I've tried many different feeders and this one is a keeper for sure. First I have to say that the reviewer who said that the squirrels were inside this feeder must be talking about a different feeder. There's just no way a squirrel could get inside. It's a sturdy, well made wire cage. It's also very attractive compared to most since it resembles the shape of an actual bird cage. I bought a caged feeder because I have over a dozen of those huge ring-necked doves eating me dry each day, leaving nothing for the smaller birds. This feeder solved that problem. I also wanted a feeder with a tray with holes to allow rain water through. The holes are large enough for drainage compared to the useless pin-prick holes some feeders have. The tray catches most of the seed the birds are eating and what falls to the ground is eaten by the larger birds, squirrels, etc, which is fine with me. I wish the tube was a bit wider and held more seed but with the easy open top it's really no big deal to refill. I would get another one if needed.

This is doing a great job of letting only the small song birds in. I leave a few peanuts on the tray for Blue jays, they have no problem reaching them with their long beaks. This feeder is great when hung below my Droll Yankees SQBK 15in Black Squirrel Guard.No squirrels or doves making a mess anymore. Use this with hulled black oil sunflower seeds to avoid any mess at all.

This feeder looked like a great idea to keep squirrels out. Within 3 days the squirrels had figured it out and sat happily inside the cage eating their hearts out. In addition, they managed to dismantle the perches on each of the tube openings, allowing the seeds to flow freely out into the feeder tray. Due to the design of the cage there is no way for me to have access to replacing the perches back into the holes, now making the feeder worthless. Don't waste your money. Unfortunately, I waited one day too long to try to return it to Amazon, so they won't take it back. Bad deal all around!

The quality of the Woodlink Tube Bird Feeder was disappointing. It is not an inexpensive feeder. The two halves of the green wire cage are fastened together with very soft silver metal clips. Two of the clips were missing and two others were bent, twisted and barely holding the cage together. This was a $50.00 feeder and not acceptable quality at this price point! The good news....the company I ordered this feeder from....UnbeatableSales...is absolutely superb in their customer service. They provided quick resolution and are wonderful to do business with.
