I stand corrected.
Alright, confession up front. I don't normally read urban fantasy (don't you hate reviews that start like that?), but a friend put me onto it.....and wow.Crake has created a world where gods are everywhere, accepted, even mundane - and she's made it not only believable, but compelling. Her lead, Ophelia, or Phi, is at once sympathetic, full of moxy and totally human(and quite hot if the cover is anything to go by).The story is a total page turner (well, clicker as this is an ebook) and drags Phi, kicking and screaming from downtrodden messenger for the gods to one adventure after the next, creating an amazing collection of worlds and characters, building the engrossing narrative as it does.I don't even know if I'm the target market as the imprint is called "Destiny Romance", but I don't care. The romance was well crafted and kept me guessing (in a good way), but it was by no means the be all and end all of the book. For anyone interested in dipping their toes into a different genre than they're normally used to, or, let's be honest, anyone up for a damn good read - pick this up.Highly recommended.

Twists, turns, and a whole lot of fun
Love this modern take on the gods of the Greek pantheon. The way Crake envisages a modern day Hades and Persephone, and Zeus and Hera, is fresh and funny. Definitely some laugh out loud moments there! The main character Phi has a truly 'unique' job that gets her into all sorts of trouble with all sorts of people (or gods, or other beings) who could do her harm, and I loved the twists and turns in this fast paced plot. And finally, the romance; Crake put our emotions through the wringer on the way to the happy-for-now ending to this book, and I can only imagine what the future holds for Phi and Aden...

Really great read
I thought that this was a fresh take in a world full of zombies and vampires.Once I started, I couldn't put the book down, I read it in one day. I felt that the relationship between Phi and Aden needed more oomph and that there was a little jumping around halfway into the book, but considering that this is the authors first book, fantastic.I loved the fact that this was Australian based and really enjoyed the descriptions of the characters.A great read if you have never really read this genre before.

Great Gods
I really enjoyed this book. It's nice and easy to read, and I found the concept of the gods living among us mere mortals on Earth quite interesting, and wanted to know more about each of them. This book has a bit a everything - action, adventure, intrigue, romance, and great world-building. I also liked the fact that it was largely set in my home town, which doesn't happen often! There is potential for more adventures too..

Witty, well written, couldn't put it down
I loved this story from Peta Crake. Having a love of pagan mythology from a child, I was overjoyed to see my favorite gods living in Australia. I travelled with her from message to message, wondering when she would come to her senses and realise her feelings for Aden.Thoroughly enjoyed the book, really disliked the villain and the Furies, and am really happy she realised the good in the hero.Definitely looking forward to Peta's next books.

Awesome Heroine
Loved this first book which is in the first and sets the scene for the 3 book series. It hooks you in immediately with an awesome kick ass heroine and an intriguing/clever story line where you never know where Phi or her sexy hero will end up.

Recommended read!
I loved this book! The use of gods and mythology in a modern day setting worked really well. I'm not one for writing long reviews but I loved the sassy heroine, the humour and the story kept me interested. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author!

Australian paranormal romance
A dash of chick lit with a lovely re-working of the old gods and mythologies. Harbinger is wonderfully imaginative and promises a fantastic new paranormal romance series.

Twist on the myth
I particularly enjoyed the start of this story, meeting Ophelia the messenger who carries scrolls to and from the various Gods. I laughed out loud at some of the descriptions of these Gods, particularly Pandora who has a phobia about opening things :)It's a nice twist on the Greek myths. It lost me just a little working through the second half. Whether that section drew out slightly too long, or possibly I ended up a bit confused about what Ophelia's main goal was in her life. (She has a lot of goals through the course of this book: finding who her father is; finding Aden when he goes missing; getting in and getting out of places smart Messengers just shouldn't go; and generally staying alive).
