Hand Hammered Tibetan Meditation Singing Bowl 6 Inches and Satin Covered Cushion(Color May Vary)

This is a nice quality bowl, clearly hand hammered, without an artificial looking patina. I love the size, which isn't too big to hold in one hand yet not too small. Getting it to sing with a wooden mallet is a skill like any other musical instrument but not terribly difficult to reach a working stage. Love the tone, love the feel, and the skill translates to working with singing bowls of much larger size. Didn't plan on that, what a nice benefit.

Bowl does not "sing" when rubbed around its rim as you rub a wine glass. Rub the rim, there's no sound. Big disappointment. Seller misrepresents. Yet over many months I've come to be quite fond of my bowl: it's hand-hammered, handsome and I figure it about fits with my middling, muddling state of enlightenment at this point.When struck with the hammer, the bowl does maintain a long, ringing tone. Satisfyingly so. But for me the tone was sharp and tinny. So I wrapped a rubber band around the hammer to soften it the blow, and now the tone deeper and more resonant; I can hear waves of sound.

Gave it as a gift and it looked elegant and the recipient loved it and keeps it on display.

I purchased this item expecting to receive a hand hammered bowl with the mallet as a seen in the photo. What we received was a bowl w obvious machine markings for making this bowl. And The sound is wretched.I have a lot of other bowls and they are all lovely and I had hoped the same for this.

Wonderful singing bowl. I use it for meditation or just to be awed by the Tibetan workmanship. It is a gift for anyone who meditates.

Was not finished and was very difficult to get to sing.

The tone was fine, and once you catch on to striking it correctly, it could carry for several seconds. I realize this is a fairly "low end" piece comparatively, but I felt the material could have been a little more substantial. Still, for the price, I'm happy with my purchase.
