I loved this book, Hecate by Tara Sanchez......
This book was recommended to me by the author of Her Sacred Fires, Sorita De Estes who also has a Youtube channel by that name. I am extremely pleased by the content of this book. Even though a few of the chapters review various forms of exercises relating to the basics of ritual preparation predominantly of Greek antiquity origin (setting up altars, various info on the elements, winds, Hecate incense formulas, the bulk of the book is written in an almost scholarly format including footnotes concerning who the Goddess is, various origins possibilities, many great devotional exercises and even ancient hand gestures relating to Hecate. It is one of the few credible books on Hecate in my opinion. mainly because most of the book is NOIT the authors opinions and assumptions. Sanchez pretty much sticks to actual historical/cultural/ mythical information which is well documented by her research. I especially value the exercises and authentic devotional practices meant to enhance and further develop your own relationship and interaction with the Goddess Hecate. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is sincerely interested in this Goddess.

Wonderful guide to get you started
If you are wanting to learn about Hekate and if she is the Goddess for you. Or wanting to learn how best to honor her and learn a bit more about her, and how to work with her, this is a great guide to get you well on your way. Easy to understand and follow, it covers enough of everything to where you get a good grasp on honor, worship, offerings, oils, incense, communication, calling on her, altar placement and much more.A great starter guide, easy to understand and has a bit of everything. Then if you feel you would like to go further in depth in a certain area you know what type of other books to look for.

An ambitious, solid start
Reading this book, there's no doubt that Tara Sanchez has a lot of love and devotion for Hecate and that she wants to share her knowledge and experience. It's a good book, but a stronger editorial hand could have made a great one. I would have liked to have seen it split into three major sections - one on history, one for beginners, and one for advancing practitioners. The history in the book is problematic. Sanchez is devoted, but she's not a scholar, and some of her claims about Hekate are questionable. The work in this book is mainly within a Greek context, but Sanchez refers often to the Chaldean Oracles and Greek Magical Papyri, which, despite its name, is actually a body of syncretic work from Greco-Roman Egypt that includes Babylonian, Jewish, and Christian influences. This may not be an issue for someone with greater familiarity with these and other texts about Hekate, someone who could be more discerning, but it may be confusing or misleading for the beginner.Beyond that, the book is very good. It contains basic introductory material on creating sacred space, purifictation, casting a circle, etc., which is helpful for novices. Although that may bore more advanced ritualists, there are some interesting ideas and techniques that are captivating enough. I particularly liked exploring the elements through Hekate and using the tarot to explore different aspects of her.Considering there aren't many other books like this one on the market, it's definitely worth adding to your library. Although I would have liked to see Sanchez delve deeper into Hekate's mysteries, this book provides a solid and practical introduction. On a final note, I recommend this book on paper rather than digital format. It contains tables that aren't properly formatted for Kindle.

Great Guide For Deeper Exploration
I was recommended this book by a friend. Having a good deal of knowledge under my belt so far of Hekate this book touched on subjects that introduced new concepts and future reading materials. Highly recommended.

Informative
It is a little different from a normal book by not overwriting, to wordy, on specific subjects for Hecate and gives examples and/or incorporates minor ideas from other similar practice of Hecate.

Not exactly what I was looking for
This book is filled with knowledgeable rituals, meditations, and divination practices with the goddess Hekate; however, I was looking for more information and background on the goddess herself. Tara Sanchez focuses mostly on Greek Mythology, specifically Olympian which is ok, but I was not looking for a hardcore study and practice in Olympian traditions, just good and in-depth information on the beautiful, dark goddess. There were also many subjects in the book in which I felt was broad, not really concerning Hekate specifically at all. Subjects such as teaching beginner's visualization, casting circles, setting up altars, etc. These things, I can go to a Wicca 101 book and find.Overall, the book is a good information source, but only if you are wanting to learn and practice more within Greek Traditions. Even with that being said, this book can still be very confusing, especially to the beginner, as she does not speak much of the goddess herself, but more on detailed practices of the goddess' culture.

I would say it is good for a complete novice who has no experience of ...
enjoying this book on the Goddess Hecate/Hekate immensely...I would say it is good for a complete novice who has no experience of this sort of work as many basic details are given. It has inspired me to seek out a bit more on Hekate as the first time I ever did a Hekatean ritual (from another scource- author Jason Miller, Protection and Reversal Magick...the ravens flew North South directly over the seal I had drawn on the ground in chalk (the Wheel of Hekate) ..this was quite spectacular and from that moment I decided Hecate was my protector...therefore I sought out more on this ancient Goddess. I am familiar with certain banishing rituals etc , meditation methods etc and this book adds to what I do know and yet can benefit well someone who knows nothing. The cover of the book inspired me to paint a statue just like the one on the cover in Hekatean colours (red, white and black) and place her on my special altar dedicated to Hecate, Goddess of the Waning moon.....and there is a section on Hekate and the other Gods...me being a sun sign and a bit of a Druid, finds allegiance to Helios, the sun -God.....theres also a sction on symbols and other sacred objects important to Hecate....plus of course much more which I havent included...also I havent read the book in its entirety yet as I tend to delve into chapters spontaneously.....pleased with this book, yet it leads me to want more....( a good thing!)
