Terrible, terrible game
Okay, first off I loved Ridge Racer on PSP. LOVED it. I even enjoyed the 3DS version as well. So, when I got a Vita, I had a look at the latest in the series, but was wary of it due to only having 3 cars and 3 tracks. But I bought it anyway. So, why do I hate it? Well...The game has no career mode for a start. Its just 'spot race', which is you simply selecting a track and racing. If that gets boring, you can do a time trial. After that, you can download other gamers ghosts from PlayStation Network and try to beat them. You can also try a versus race in ad-hoc mode or hitting it big time and playing online. The online sucks though. You see, what you have to do is level up your, well, level, all the way up to the maximum of 16. You can do that by simply doing spot race until level 10, as then you stop leveling up and must beat other people's ghosts to progress. However, leveling up increases your cars maximum speed so if you go online at, say, level 6, you'll be left in the dust of anyone higher. Its best to get up to level 16 before you go online, but wait, it gets really irritating. Losing (come second or not, doesn't matter) a race actually de-levels you, so a 5 race winless streak can knock you down to level 15. Or further. There's also the small matter of the machine upgrade map, where you have to keep earning money to unlock upgrades like better nitrous, rocket boost, and so forth. Only it doesn't make the game any better. The online is all about building up your nitrous, so you have to keep drifting. There is nothing more infuriating that to go from 1st to 5th because someone overtook you on a corner, hit the wall, stopped, and you crashed into them, only for everyone else to race past. Same on a straight, where people drift, you touch them, and suddenly you stop dead. Not a crash, a touch!Once you finish the machine upgrade map, you've done it. There's nothing to do in this game except grind, grind, grind, for no rewards whatsoever.Forgot to mention that at the start, you select a team. They have no perks between them, and whoever you choose has no bearing on how the game plays. Its just a name of a team to select, and that's it. Graphics are pretty decent, but when the game is terrible who cares how it looks? The game came with a code to download 3 extra tracks and 3 extra cars for free (the code expires on Dec 31st 2012, if you're still on the fence), only instead of simply entering it into the PlayStation Store... nooooooo, I have to enter it into the NamcoBandai website and then recieve a code to download from the PlayStation Store. Its unnecessary, like playing this game. It was £7.00, and I STILL feel ripped off.You want my advice? Get WipEout 2048, as its a brilliant racer and is a joy to play not only online (oh, and it has an actual online community too, unlike Ridge Racer's graveyard), but in single player as well, has better graphics, DLC and more fun stuffed into its speed laps than Ridge Racer has in its whole game. Don't buy Ridge Racer, its an abomination of a game. Really, the people who are saying it sucks are right, it really, really does, and you will be saving yourself money and frustration by avoiding this game.

Great Little Drift Racer On The Go BUT Highly Repetitive....
If your a fan of Ridge Racer then I definitely recommend this game, however your probably better off downloading the 'Ultimate Edition' off Playstation Store for £19.99 (that is if you have a memory card to store the game + DLC). I purchased the physical copy at £15 which only gives you 5 cars & 3 tracks, which is an expensive demo as people say but there are the Silver/Gold DLC packs on the store at £3.99 & £5.79 to purchase that add a further 8 cars & 6 tracks in total between them. Not to mention 20 individual free music packs as well as a few tracks you get with the DLC packs. So the game, update, 2 DLC packs & 20 music packs after all the downloading takes up in total 1263mb. It's a great little racer for the Vita, the graphics are good & it's fun to play but if you want to save a little money then download the 'Ultimate Edition' off PS Store. It is highly repetitive also, so I can't see many people playing it longer than a few races a day... if that!

A new type of Ridge Racer?
I purchased this, despite negative reviews on here and I was pleasantly surprised. I only have the wi-fi PS Vita, so online gaming does not apply to me. The graphics are good, although the cars seem a bit slow. Maybe I need to play the game more and get car upgrades? That said, it`s a new type of RR I think. It does not exploit the full potential of the PS Vita (but not that many games do, only Vitua 4 tennis and Wipeout seem to?) Conclusion, if you like RR, buy this (Amazon lowered their price to only £7-00!!!)
