Just opened mine and so far I like it!
Just got mine from Big Lots and it was originally for $10.00 and Big Lots had a 20 percent off sale so it actually came to $8.00 for me. I opened mine and I have a 15.6 inch but I decided I wanted to put the 17.3 inch on top of it and so far it's cooling it off....of course a little bit of the laptop is hanging off of the laptop cooler but I will move over to the other side in a little bit. LOL! It's really nice, I like the blue glow of the fan when it's on. As soon as you take it out of the box all you have to do is hook into your USB port and that's it. The USB part of the cooler doesn't bother me if it works or not all I care about is the fan working because I have another USB port on the laptop and the main purpose of the purchase is for the fan only. The USB is a little sharp, just take some tape and tape it and that's it. I'm so glad I got this on sale and I think these laptop coolers are good to stock up as gifts when they're on sale and it will be a good gift to someone you know who owns a laptop because you can get these laptop coolers for a little of nothing.

Does not work.
One star because it does not work. I am sorry, too, because the last one I bought lasted four years before finally giving out. I picked up this one yesterday at Big Lots for $10. Brought it home. Plugged it into the USB port on my notebook and nothing. Taking it back today and getting a different make. Or maybe I can just take my notebook in and plug it in there to make sure the new one actually functions. Disappointed to have to make a return trip, but, really? There are MUCH bigger problems in this world.

Weak and Overprices for What You Get
I bought this one and the Sylvania Net Cooling Fan at the same time in a retail shop. One was to use on the go and the other at home. This one is almost like having nothing. In fact, what works better under my 13" laptop is just raising it an inch off the surface by putting small a couple of books under left and right edges. The Sylvania works much better at keeping my laptop cool under all conditions of normal and busy use (and, it is about 35% cheaper here). I gave it two stars instead of one because it is definitely better than nothing, but not as good as simple ventilation.

Beware of misinformation. USB is not a true pass-thru.
I gave this item 3 stars because, as a cooling fan, it works fine. It is a thin-line design with one large fan, which is neither quiet nor loud. The unit also has two rear legs that pop up for a more comfortable typing position. It also has an internal indigo LED, which I suppose is to indicate the unit is functioning, and probably more-so for the "coolness" effect. The unit draws power via a USB connection to your laptop. As a cooling fan, it is just fine. However, and this is a big "however", the package indicates the USB connector is a pass-thru design. It specifically says... "USB pass-through connector powers cooling pad without taking up one of your computer's USB ports." This is extremely misleading. The connector is a pass-thru, but for POWER ONLY!!! It will not pass through data. For example, if you connect your iPhone's USB to the cooling fan's USB "pass-thru" connector, your phone will charge, but your laptop will not recognize your phone. This would be true for any device you connect to it, such as a drive, mouse, or keyboard. Therefore, do not buy this product if you are purchasing it for the sole purpose of the perceived "pass-thru" feature. If that does not matter to you, then this product is a good cooling fan.

Actually 14'', good enough
The fan works well, and the temp at my laptop went down about 2-3 degrees when on. As others say, the usb is not really pass-through, just a power USB, which can be used to charge a smartphone but not to connect a mouse for example. I really didn't care about this, a USB hub is pretty cheap these days. Regarding the size, it is a little smaller than 15''. My 14'' laptop sits just right on top of it.

99 there and I freaking love it. This is the first fan I've ever ...
If there is an Ollie's Bargain Outlet near you, GO THERE and buy it. It's $4.99 there and I freaking love it. This is the first fan I've ever bought and it works really nice. I read some reviews and I was really hesitant to buy this because people complained about various things but overall, it does it's job. You don't need a $30 fan when you got this for $5 at Ollie's. I guess the USB pass through part is sharp? It's not as sharp as a knife... and I haven't got cut yet lol. Overall, works awesome.Pros-Cools laptop-Super quiet-Extremely lightweightCons-Weird USB pass through

I have no complaints about this cooling pad. I have a 15" laptop and it works just fine. Keep the fan blades clean of dust etc and you should have no problems with it...

Horrible design
I would give this 0 stars if that was an option. This piece of junk has the poorest design I have ever seen. I want to know what idiot decided to put a sharp metal protruding object on the side of a product meant to sit under something people place on their laps? I have cut my hand numerous times on the extra USB thing sticking out of this fan. I don't need an extra USB port. I need a laptop cooler that works and doesn't injure me. This thing not only does not cool down my laptop but whenever it is being used I end up with numerous cuts and scratches all over my hands! It is going straight to the garbage where it belongs.
