Ralph Masiello's Ocean Drawing Book (Ralph Masiello's Drawing Books)

My husband has been polishing up on his drawing and this book has been heaven sent for him.

I was looking for a good drawing book for my five year old, who has enjoyed the Ed Emberley books (as have I) for the past couple of years, but was ready for something a little more challenging. The trouble was that many of the drawing books for kids are a LOT more challenging, involving drawing a frame, sketching in shapes, erasing the frame, filling in the body and musculature, etc. We purchased two of Mr. Masiello's books and couldn't be happier with them - the simple line drawing is easy enough for me and my son to follow, but the resulting images are very sophisticated and realistic. I also appreciate that this books gives ideas on drawing basics - eyes, water, fins etc. - that we can carry over into our other drawings. All in all these books are a great next step from the Emberley books (which we still enjoy and are the BEST first drawing books by the way!) We will be purchasing the other books available from this author, and hope he continues to publish more in the future.

I am so challenged at drawing that stick figures are a challenge for me. At the university I am attending, they encourage everyone to get involved in an "after hours club" great I thought, as If I did not have enough to do. I looked into the club requirements and they suggested this book. I was very surprised when it arrived, this was something I could actually do! If I can do it, anyone can do it. wish me luck, I am off to learn to draw the world!

Kids love it...every aspect...our 9 year old does not stop using it for tracing and for learning parts of drawing process. The 6 year old uses, but does get worn out. I think it has a few beautiful pages that our 9 year old tries to replicate...though most pages are step by step black and white. Learning to draw these water creatures is enhancing their homeschool drawings of their science labs/observations and journaling of the text readings. Right on!! Would recommend for fun or use in schooling.

My son loves the Ralph Masiello's series, His drawing skills has improved a lot following the steps in the book. I do wish they cover more ocean animals since the book is rather thin, I'm sad that there's no jelly fish, :( But overall, still a good book.

Ralph Masiello's drawing books are so liberating for people, both kids and adults, wanting and learning to draw. I have the entire collection in my classroom library and they are always a favorite go to choice for "center time."

My 6 year old son loves this book and can spend hours drawing the various sea creatures. He had checked it out from his school library and liked it so much that I ordered him this copy. The fish he draws from it are really beautiful. It's captured his attention much more than similar drawing books focused on dragons, castles etc.

My son loves this book. He borrowed it from the library and was sad every time it was time to return it he would keep checking it back out. So it was a no brainer to get it for him for Christmas.

Ce n'est pas un livre de dessin classique, avec des conseils. Il y a juste quelques animaux que l'on apprend à recopier, c'est tout! l'auteur ne donne pas non plus de définition (ne serait-ce qu'une petite) sur ces animaux à recopier... Pour les jeunes enfants (entre 4 et 6 ans) c'est bien, mais au-delà, c'est insuffisant.
