Reeves Painting by Numbers Artists Collection, 12 x 16-Inch, The Last Supper

I read the reviews before I purchased and wanted a challenge and I got one. If you want a beautiful painting - go by the cover photo on the box and forget the numbers. I had to use a lot of my own paints I purchased previously to complete the painting. My sky is a light blue. The greenery behind the birds, I used two shades of green to resemble shrubs and behind them taller tree tops of trees, and the bottom under the fence I made the grass look real like a lawn. In case you have not identified the birds they are from left to right: Cardinal, Black-Capped Chickadee, American Finch, Blue Jay, Orchard Oriole, and a Blue Bird. I like to have the breed of the birds on back of the painting and I hope this helps you.It is too bad the makers of this kit did such a bad job and with a lot of mistakes. I have seen mistakes in cheap sets, but this one at the price point should be flawless. A suggestion to beginners of Paint-by-numbers is start with sets that the paints are premixed and plentiful no blending required such as in the Plaid and Bucilla sets. These sets cost more, but are mistake proof and worth the cost. Happy painting.

great paint by number kit it might be a little bit hard for begginners as some of the spots to paint are pretty small and may require a fine detail brush. i bought this as a birthday gift for my mother and she absolutely loves it. it is her favorite paint by number kit she has ever had. she says it is very relaxing and she loses herself in the painting meaning all her stress fades away when she grabs her brush and board it has a thick board which you paint on and very high quality paint which when completed leaves the appearence of brush strokes and makes the finished product look far more like and original painting than a paint by number kit. it comes with twenty different colors some of which you need to blend together to gain a third paint color, so a painting palette might come in handy. the no mess paint organizer is also great for keeping all your paint wells in order

You will need to do your own blending and mixing if you want the birds to look natural. I painted following the "paint by number" and then painted over blending and shading and adding until the birds looked natural. If you don't have an artistic side, don't get this kit, but if you love to paint and have a keen eye for detail, enjoy using the box as your guide.

I bought this for my girlfriend that requested one for Christmas. She said the paint is good quality and goes on smooth. It looks nice when it is dried so we are happy with this purchase. We might frame it and display it in our home since it turned out so nice!

It is a terrible paint by number painting.- Firstly, the colors are no way close to the colors on the box, they are too bright and have to be mixed.- Secondly, the areas to paint are so large, and they don't blend together, so after painting a cloud for example, you are left with what looks like a mosaic version of huge piece of blue, grey and dark blue.- Paints dry very fast so blending is difficult (if you decide to attempt it), plus the paint is somewhat thin (for example, with white and light blue you can still see the numbers on a canvas you just covered). Had to make two-three layers before the borders/labels are completely hidden- It is not really a canvas - it is a piece of cardboard with some paper thin canvas layerI did half of the painting (the sky) and gave up, colored it all white and tried to replicate the painting ignoring the numbers. It is very hard though, but after 4 attempts i think I am getting there ;)Overall: not for a beginner, because you will actually have to do it all by just looking at the picture if you want to get some decent result

So I bought this for a wine & paint by number party I hosted. Not a bad adaptation, probably possible to complete in a weekend, relatively straightforward.That being said, the directions are not much help in the area of the inexplicable fractions- you'll have to interpret them on your own. Actually the directions are almost nonexistent despite being translated into 8 languages.Then there's the reason I actually took a star off - design flaws. Specifically I simply cannot follow the limited directions and then finish the painting, because the tiny spaces have been labeled with an indicator line inside of the bigger spaces. If you paint over them dark enough to hide the edges you now don't know what to paint the tiny spots anymore. Since the only spare guide provided is on the rear of the box, and at least on the 3 copies I bought, does not include the numbers for at least 5 spaces, this is unfortunate.Still, it was entertaining to attempt after the first 3 glasses (it was a 5 hour event).

This is an easy looking paint-by-number kit. Some mixing of colors is required, but the sections are larger than what I have been painting. It will be a welcome change. A great kit for an advanced beginner. Would buy again.

Before choosing a paint by number kit, I would like to know if the painting I am choosing is done by a professional artist and that if I do mine correctly it will come out looking the same. Mine came out looking like a young child's painting. I spent a couple extra days trying to copy the box lid to get my birds to look real. I wouldn't have to use paint by number kits if I was a real artist. I have used other companies kits and what you see is what you get. Also quality control certainly missed my kit. I didn't get two colors. They were miss marked. I still don' t know what colors they were supposed to be. I also got duplicates of two paints. They were supposed to be number 58 but were labeled 10. Also my board I painted on had wrong numbers on it. Fortunately cardboard on the back of the box had the correct numbers. Amazon verified purchased
