Molly and Friends "Simple Sleeper" Premium Handmade 2-Tier Cat Tree with Sisal, Model 23, Beige, Colors May Vary

After purchasing and returning two cat trees from my local pet supply stores, I decided to be patient and order this one on line. I am VERY happy I controlled my impulse-buy urges and waited for this one to be delivered (no big deal with PRIME); my cats are happy, too. The design and construction of this tree are terrific. It is MUCH more stable than the ones I found in the local stores. It is sufficiently heavy to withstand leaps and kitty tussles, yet not so heavy as to preclude my moving it around the house. For example, it is now sitting next to my desk with the hope they will be so happy sitting in their tree that they won't walk acorss my desk and my keyboard. (Right.) The carpet is soft but not so fluffy-wuffy that you can pull out the carpet strands with the least little tug or kitty scratch. I've had it for about a month and there are no bald spots. The sisal is well placed and of good quality. The size is sufficient to give adequate play and scratch and lounge room without visualy dominating wherever it is placed. All in all, this is a quality item that is worth the few dollars more than one you might find at the pet store. It comes fully assembled (yeah!!!) and the box makes a great kitty fort if you cut out a few windows and doors. That is, of course, only if your cats are spoiled, unlike mine. I do plan to buy another one of these for other locations in my home. The perches are great for sun bathing as the warm-spots change locations during the day. May I add that I do not spoil my cats. I just want another one or two because I like the color of the carpet-cover and the fact that I can easily reach from my desk or chair or couch to scratch chins and rub bellies.Meow.

I was a bit reluctant to buy this brand's trees because they seemed to be much more expensive than other brands. Nor had my cats ever owned one, so I wasn't sure they'd even like one. However, you get what you pay for, and what I got were solid, high-quality perching trees they adore. It really is worth more than the Amazon price, and I don't say that lightly. I bought this one and a simpler one together, and am ordering another of this model today. This way, it can go into a dark bedroom where my older cat likes to sleep in peace.Every part of the tree has been thought out and works the way a cat prefers to move/hang out. One small complaint--while the higher post on the two-post model is wrapped in sisal, the shorter post is carpeted. Cats' favorite scratching surface is bark, as you might expect. The material most cats prefer second is sisal, and they'll use only that if it's available to them. Unfortunately, if introduced to carpet at a young age, they're more or less being trained to think carpet is okay to use. That can lead to using floor rugs or carpeting which is NOT what you want to do. Our cats do have two other sisal posts (Felix), so that's what they use.I've always rescued adults, so these are the first kittens I've lived with. OMG!! Their activity level is insane, even more than small children's. Moreover, small children can't leap five times higher than their own height, turn on a dime, then run to the tree and slam it full force, all without moving or damaging a thing. These posts are strong as hell and you can't go wrong. I do see some negative reviews, generally about either the color or damaged shipping boxes. My order went off without a hitch, and there are very few one- and two-star reviews. I hope this new order will be as terrific as the two in the past.

As you can see, my cat Smokey is not small. He's around 14 pounds or so. He likes to attack the scratcher with everything he's got and hang his full weight from his nails that he digs into the sisal rope. Our cat liked this scratcher so much that he pretty much wore out the rope. When his Papa went to replace the rope which had become completely frizzed and frayed,, we discovered that it was really fastened onto the wood very securely, which made removing the rope a little more difficult. But, we could see how solid the inner structure was. After the fresh rope was attached, (purchased at our local hardware store), the post was as good as new and Smokey gets to enjoy working out his aggressions for years to come. The price was right, and, the other materials used are nice. The carpet is plush and thick.

Molly and Friends cat tree is such a great product. I have been looking around my area for cat trees and most of them look like they were manufactured with cheap-looking materials or were poorly constructed. I read some reviews about Molly and Friends products on Amazon, and I thought I would try it for my little kitten. It was a great purchase!Although the box it was delivered in was gigantic, I was glad that the furniture was already put together. It is very sturdy and has a large base that does not wobble. Before I got the product entirely out the box, my kitten was already jumping and playing with it!Here are some things, in particular, I really like about this cat tree:1) The carpet that the product is made of is very attractive looking. It doesn't look like some cheap wood shop project that most major pet stores pawn off.2)For its price, the cat tree is a very good value considering its nice construction, and design3)The built-in sisal rope scratching post is a nice feature. It eliminates the need to buy a separate scratching post for kitty.4) All the tiers are exposed, so kitty won't feel claustrophobic.I highly recommend this product for someone who is looking for a premium quality, attractive cat tree.UPDATE: 1/2/2012Kitten has turned into a large cat now (he's a Ragdoll breed which can tip the scales at 15-20 lbs. Luckily my boy is at the 15lb. mark). He still LOVES this cat tree. He hops on and off the tree calmly and wildly, depending on his mood, and the tree always remains stable. In spite of cat's "ginormous" size, he can still fit comfortably on both tiers. If this product ever breaks (which I don't think it will), this would be a MUST HAVE re-purchase. People who visit the house comment on how nice the "carpeting" on the tree looks. Overall, I am so pleased I purchased this product as the money was well spent.
