Prevents Weeds When Properly Applied
I've used this product for multiple years to apply the barrier to keep various lawn weed seeds from popping. In Phoenix, I apply in January after the dip for our cold temperatures passes before the soil warms enough to trigger dormant weed seed sprout -- of the seeds that have been blowing and landing in the dormant Bermuda grass. Your timing will differ. Fortunately, I don't have crabgrass in my yard, but I did use it to try and control the crabgrass in son's yard. For that, you add surfactant for any post emerging crabgrass. I will sometimes make a second pass a few months later for the spotted spurge seeds that seem to carry everywhere.I mix this up in my 4 gallon backpack sprayer, add the blue dye and spray the whole lawn, except any patches where I need to add seed -- allowing an unsprayed buffer zone.Buying in economy size is my approach. Seems to have decent shelf life.

Works really well
I applied as directed in August, before a big rain. It does appear to have greatly reduced the number of weeds. The only problem is getting a big rain to happen so I can apply it again! It was also helpful to add some temporary dye (sold for this purpose) to the mixture, to tell where I had already applied it.Update, 2 years later: This stuff has made my life SO much easier! I used to spend a large part of my time regularly pulling weeds, to stay ahead of them going to seed. Now I just spray a mixture of this around every 4 months when a major rain is expected (I found that some dish soap seems to work well as surfactant). Getting near the end of the bottle, but still have some from my original purchase left - so while this is pricey, it lasts a long time (as it is concentrated) and IMHO, is priceless ;-)

Very Effective Pre-emergent
This prevented almost all weeds in my lawn this past Spring.I live in a new development backing to a wide open field of weeds. My immediate neighbors and I all installed new lawns last Spring. We has an unusually cold period in northern Ohio extending through April. Even so, I applied this 2EW in the first week of April to get a jump on weeds since crabgrass was already coming up and getting established. Although I did have some crabgrass, my lawn was otherwise weed-free compared to my neighbors on both sides. My left side neighbor has a fairly lush new lawn as his yard service concentrated on new over-seeding early May rather than weed control. But he has a huge clover and yellow woodsorrel problem I don't have. First week of June already and I want to reapply to control the summer weed attack of barnyard grass that is coming that was prolific last season. I will aerate and over-seed late fall to hopefully have great results next spring. It's a process.

Works fine
This is costly and it is best applied with a pump pot, but it selectively kills crab grass which is awesome! Be sure the add the blue dye so you can see where you have already sprayed. I also added broad leaf. Enough to do my corner lot 4-5 times

Best I have purchased
The best pre-emergent/herbicide I have purchased. Applied late March (central North Carolina) for Mary's grass (first time user). Control of this and other broadleaf weeds was complete (but read on). Where application stopped, there was a sharp, distinct line of weed control with neighbor's yard in late Spring. Some weeds controlled for the year; Mary's and crab grass emerged in late spring, but much fewer in number than in untreated years. Will definitely split treatment next year and make two applications (5 to 10 weeks apart suggested) for better control. Follow all directions. One must factor application rates in looking at the cost of this product. At 0.37 ounce per gallon of water per 1000 square feet, there are 173 applications to a 1000 square foot space in a half gallon bottle of product. Many residential herbicides require roughly 6 ounces of product per 1000 square feet; roughly 16 times (at 0.37 oz.) as much product as for Dimension. Comparisons such as this put the Dimension purchase price in perspective.

Happy with the Results
A couple of years ago, I got an invasion of some broadleaf weeds (oxalis, spurge) and crabgrass in my Bluegrass lawn. Post emergence treatment using weed and feed worked poorly. Last spring I tried Dimension and it worked great as a preemergent.Theoretically, a half-gallon will provide coverage for more than 85,000 sq ft. but I can see I am going to come up short of that.It seems that folks have bought this to get at existing crabgrass. The label indicates this does not work for post emergent control except for young crabgrass in bare ground, such as around ornamentals.

Serious Leaks
Leaked all over the packaging. Should be a warning on the outside to open with gloves. Better yet, stop selling this stuff with leaky containers!!!!
