Stalingrad

This is the best history book I had read in a long time. I wanted the to read about the fate of stalingrad but this book gives so much detailes about the battle that it is hard to grasp everything. This book starts with operation Barbarossa and goes on towards the fateful siege of the city Stalingrad. Though this book is very nutral, This book present the gut wrenching horrors of war immense suffering endured by both civilians and the soldiers and detailes accurate to the name of every officer along with all regiments and geographical location how they were deployed plus accounts of suffering of everyone involved in this horror of war at Stalingrad.Higly recommend book to read if intrested in history

I have read several books on International topics but this one is probably the best. It is well researched and well written. But like the Battle, you have to gird up the loins to read since it is a mammoth book.

Nice book for readers who will like to see what it meant to be in the side of Russians during those days...and for world history researchers...you will get lots of details...and for movie-makers...u can have a plot to direct too.

A very authentic and well written history of Battle of Stalingrad which changed the direction of world war. Love too see inspite of less resources how Russian fought bravely against most advanced army of that time. It was not a battle of Stalingrad but Stalin vs Hitler.

Without reading this..I bought this as a collector's delight

I finished reading the book in about a week. Antony Beevor has done quite exhaustive research and has come up with a lot of intricate details about the war.A must read for all who are interesting in having a closer look at one of the most important battles of 2nd World War.

Meticulously researched and vividly brought to life by Beevor, Stalingrad is one of the most important and famous battles in the history of your warfare. Beevor approaches the subject matter with objectivity and insightful observations, which must have been very difficult given the chaotic nature of the battle of Stalingrad. Part's are difficult to read, because there is so much suffering and death. Still, it's a gripping, absorbing and important book, showing just how close Russia came to full Nazi occupation and the terrible consequences of two evil men in Hitler and Stalin coming to blows. Highly recommended.

I was told this was one of the two books that gives a proper study of the battle.They were right. Outstanding book
