Larger than expected, but is a great knife!
I should have paid more attention to the measurements. This is a larger knife than I desired - I already have a couple of good knives that are the same size. But, I wanted a Santoku-style knife, so I kept it. It's really quite beautiful with the red handle. Its sharpness is impressive and can even easily cut through a tomato without squishing it. I do a lot of vegetable chopping and this is wonderful for that. It's a little on the hefty side due to the well-made handle. I'd prefer one a little lighter, but definitely can recommend this knife.

Great without a ridiculous price
I bought one of these several years ago from wal mart. It has been my favorite knife. It fits my hand and is lightweight and well balanced. I recently bought another for work because I enjoy using it so much. I could not imagine spending the ridiculous amount of money some people do for knives. I sharpen my home knife once a month with a stone and the one at work gets sharpened once a week with a sanding style sharpener. They both perform just as well as new. If you think this is not a good product because it's "cheap" you should reconsider. The knife in the pic is my home knife that is approx 3 years old and has made many meals for my family.

Good for a cheap knife, but get your whetstone ready
I like Hampton Forge's grip ergonomics. They're comfortable and all metal, so bacteria shouldn't be an issue, and if you're a casual at-home cook who doesn't need a professional chef's or santoku knife, then these will do fine. But this knife is probably the dullest/bluntest new knife I've ever bought. I had to sharpen it before I could actually cut an apple (there was no sharp edge to hone). A few moments with my whetstone and it's able to slice paper. Hopefully it'll hold an edge. Can't really complain considering it was under $20.

Well worth its price
This is the 3ed time Ive bought this knife and Im happy saying that as the first was gifted to a friend after some use and the second was just because I ended up missing having the knife myself. The knife holds its edge well and even when it does lose its edge, you can get it back to the way it was very easily. I personally never felt like the handle was slippery or hard to grip. The 3ed (and reason for this review) was also a gift. I cook for a living and while I could argue some other brands might be even better than this one, I would say over and over that for this price, you are getting a VERY good knife at a fraction of the cost of several other options. I used this when I was a short order cook so there was a lot of prep to be done as well as cooking orders. I stand by this knife and if for some reason I use mine up too much to sharpen, I will be buying one of these again. If I was to complain about anything on this knife (and personally I dont see it as a flaw but also know how to fix it if this should happen) There is a counter weight in the handle of the knife. It makes the knife well balanced in my opinion but on my first knife I bought, that counter weight broke loose in the handle and wanted to rattle around. The noise didnt bother me but to just see if I could do something about it, I used a drill bit designed to go into metal, and I drilled a hole in one side of the handle and then filled that hole with some gorilla glue that came in a syringe type of tube. That glued the weight in place and did not affect the balance of the knife. It took a LOT of punishment to make that counter weight break free and honestly unless the sound gets on your nerves, it doesnt affect the balance of the knife at all so I dont personally say this as a negative, Im just trying to give future buyers all the info I can give them. Also I'm a lefty when cutting but this knife worked well for left or right handed users (thats more with how its edge was sharpened but for detailed knife users I wanted to pass this along too)
