The Oxford Picture Dictionary Third Edition is a fantastic resource for English language learners and anyone looking to expand their vocabulary. Its clear illustrations and thematic organization make it highly engaging and easy to navigate.Comprehensive Content: Covers a wide range of topics, from everyday life to specialized subjects.Illustrations: The high-quality images make it easier to associate words with their meanings.Practical Examples: Useful phrases and sentences accompany many words, making it suitable for conversational practice.Durable Design: Sturdy binding and good-quality pages ensure it lasts for frequent use.I found it particularly helpful for visual learners and those preparing for standardized tests or everyday conversations. Very Useful!!
I loved this book from the first chapter. It contains many common American idioms which you will listen on TV or in common conversations. It is not a grammar book though; you have to have some English knowledge already.

She speaks great English in my opinion
I gifted this to a friend in her late 30's who recently arrived from Brazil. She speaks great English in my opinion, but she's wanting to speak better, I think work for stronger vocabulary. She wants me to tutor her in English, so I thought this might make a good start. I've taken Spanish and German, and of course English, but how does one teach someone how to speak English? I'm going to copy the models that my Spanish and German teachers/professors did.

Use as text in classroom setting
We have used this book as a text in a classroom setting for our Advanced ESL classes for the past two years, and the students love it. All of my students are adult learners, and they are keen to learn the idioms that baffle them at work. The parents in the class with children at home tell me that their kids play the CD in the car and practice pronunciation with them. We do one lesson and test each week, discuss the meaning (and sometimes origin) of the idioms and then we read a story from a national media outlet. It fills ninety minutes very effectively. Highly recommend.
