Vinyl Styl12 Inch Anti Static Cork Turntable Mat - Less Vibration - No Slip

I have no idea why anyone thinks this is a good idea. It looks good in the sealed packet and has a pleasant woody odour whenever you are changing a record, etc....It looks well made too and how they cut the recessed inner section is a wonder. That being said, it is a disaster in my experience for records. It is very static and literally sticks to the entire record surface when you want to flip the record side. As experienced record lovers will know its a delicate enough job flipping a record without then also somehow gently encouraging the cork mat to stay on the platter whilst gingerly holding the vinyl. The troubles don't stop there as it leaves a dusty detritus of cork bits peppered over the surface you are just getting ready to play! I've tried dusting the thing before use, it doesn't make a difference but why should i have to, its supposed to be new. These bits vary in size, some probably small enough to straddle a grove but some small enough to fit in one. Its like changing a record in a sand pit! Back to the felt mat i think and chalk this one off to experience.

Great value compared to some of the more pricier cork mats out there.An improvement on my previous felt mat, seems to grip to the platter quite well so my records don't slip.There's a definite damping effect and I think the bass is a bit more prominent.The packaging is great, I was able to recycle it and get an inner sleeve and outer sleeve from it.All in all a small price to pay for a decent upgrade.

I love the look of this cork mat and it does seem to enhance the sound quality.I previously asked the question: "if the mat is supposed to be put on top of an existing turntable mat", the reason being I've found that if you clean an LP with, for example a micro-fibre cloth, while the LP is on the turntable you get so much amounts of static that when you lift the LP off the turntable the cork mat comes with the LP! stuck fast! but if I place the LP on a micro-fibre cloth and spray it with a vinyl cleaning fluid then wipe the LP clean and put it on the turntable and lift it off afterwards, no static! I suspect that the wafer thin 2mm thickness of this mat most probably contributes to its' static problem. Would I buy it again? for the good looks, probably yes, but overall probably not.

Bought this as an upgrade from the felt mat that came with my turntable.After reading about how cork mats are supposed to make static less of an issue I was surprised to find that most records I played on this mat were full of static after playback to the point that the mat would lift as I picked the record off the turntable.Have gone back to using the standard felt mat for the time being as I very rarely had static problems using that. Shame really as the cork mat looked good and the records sounded great using it.

Good product but unfortunately I found that it stuck to the bottom of the records so I have went back to my old Turntable Matt

Based on what my ears can tell, the cork mat is a definite improvement in bass quality over the felt mat. However, I've noticed that the static build up is still quite noticeable, I really thought that this mat would do more to alleviate this!

I would say a slight improvement in sound, possible bass extension noticed, but certainly reduces static which is a good thing.

A very nice good quality product, shame it took so long to arrive.
