3.1 Is More Like 1.1
I had this for several years, and I was generally disappointed. It sounded better than the TV speakers, but it really bungled downmixing 5.1 and 7.1 sound from Blu-rays, DVDs, and occasionally Netflix. Way too loud then way too soft, and the center speaker was often the only one displaying sound with the L & R tracks underutilized. I upgraded to a JBL 5.1 soundbar with detachable BR & BL speakers, and it does a much better job.

I love this system. Ok, it is not a 5.1 or a 7.1, but for an apartment, it is more than enough. Beautiful sound. You have to play with the settings a bit (and you can set up a bunch of things), but if you read the manual you'll know what to do ;) I've connected it with my computer and my PlayStation 4.
