excellent for family chats
So I bought 3 of these and all 3 worked just fine from amazon (one for me, one for my folks and one for my wife's folks). The resolution and video picture quality is great for just chatting. PRO: Kick butt camera, looks good, fast response ... I'm definitely buying more of this exact model for extended family and friends. CON: Responds better at 800x600 ... microphone could be a bit more clear (but for the most part it's ok - just nit-picking) RECOMMENDATION: even though I bought this model because it was top of the line and had 2MP versus the 1.3MP on most other models, I recommend taking it down one notch from the 2MP(1600x1200) down to SVGA (800x600) it makes the webcam look like you're right there (no pixelation, no delay = perfect) ... where as with the full 2MP it looks fantastic but there is a slight hardware delay (takes a split second longer before you see yourself doing what you physically just did which I find personally annoying. IMPORTANT: <<< INSTALL THE SOFTWARE BEFORE YOU PLUG IN THE CAMERA >>>

Works very well on Mac (with minor caveats)
As other reviewers have said, despite being designated a Windows-only model it works on Mac (as it's UVC compatible) with only two exceptions (hence the 4/5 rating). First, you won't get any of the special features like effects or RightLight. But after reading more into it, RightLight is simply a post-processing filter, meaning the camera itself isn't doing anything special. The software is just reading the image and adjusting it as best it can. If you're critical about the picture, I recommend getting a piece of software called "iGlasses". It's $10, but it allows full adjustment of the video coming from the cam and works in all major video chat apps. Brightness, contract, sharpness, tint, etc... it's all there. The second (and I'm not sure if Windows users even get the option) is there's no way to manually control the shutter. In very dark scenes it will sometimes slow the shutter down and achieve great (if streaky) low light ability, other times it won't. Not a HUGE deal since even without slow shutter it has by far the best low-light capability of any cam I've owned. If you have enough light to read by, it's enough to use this cam. The microphone is very good as well. Good and clear without any distortion or noise. In all, I'm very happy with it, and it's a major improvement over my old iSight firewire cam.

It's looking at me.
This camera is the best I've ever owned. I constantly get compliments on the quality of the image and although I use it atop my desktop monitor and don't move it often, it seems like it would travel very well for the laptop road warrior. With that being said, the clip that holds the camera to the top of the monitor really has no tension built in, so every now and then I have to readjust it to make sure I'm centered. I would think that this might be a slight problem for all you laptop users who move around with the camera mounted. As far as the built-in visual effects, I have only tried a couple of times to use it. I wear glasses, and the software seems to have a hard time recognizing my eyes, which seems to be pretty much how the camera tracks your movements. That's a little bit of a bummer, because I really wanted to look like a shark while I participate in conference calls. All in all, I'll reiterate: great little webcam. I would buy again.

Great camera, great Amazon price
I haven't used this camera extensively yet, but so far it works great. I'm using it on Windows 7. Installation was a snap...just plug it in and go. I only use it with Skype, so I didn't install any of the software that came with the camera other than the driver. Picture quality is excellent, even in moderate lighting. The base works pretty good for mounting the camera on top of my monitor. The base doesn't have any spring tension at all, but the hinges are stiff enough to balance the camera and hold it in place. You can also fold the base up so you can just sit it flat on a desktop or other surface. I don't give this camera 5 stars only because I haven't used it much yet.

Logitech Webcam C60 with the November 2013 software: apuzzle
IMPORTANT! This review applies to the software Update I received today, November 18, 2013. I bought this webcam about a month ago and upon installing it I got a message saying that as of early June 2013 Logitech has discontinued support for the VID communication feature, which is one of the selling points for this model. Today I received and installed a software update which is probably the most unfriendly thing I I have ever encountered. The functionality of the webcam has completely changed and you can probably do a lot of cool things with it but there is NOTHING to tell you what they are and how to do them. If you are patient enough you get to a mysterious control panel which does nothing until you "adjust the zoom" setting but the only zoom tool on the panel refuses to be adjusted. This webcam also comes with a microphone which was working fine until today's software update disaster came. It is apparently locked but there is no obvious path to its key. This is a decent webcam, worth maybe four stars, but if you buy it with the new software prepare yourself for a long session to familiarize yourself with how to operate it and wish yourself "good luck".
