I highly highly recommend this book, A Diary of Private Prayer!! 30 days was a blessing. I’m along with using it with a other woman to support each other as we read through the prayers. I highly everyone to read it share it, and I will be reading it again. I received it in a fast delivery as well.

I received this book for my high school graduation and have really loved reading it through many times over the past 25 years. Now I purchase it to gift to graduates in my life. It’s beautifully written and brings such an eloquence to a time of devotion and prayer.

A helpful guide
This updated version of John Baillie's classic 31 day devotional done by Susanna Wright was a good fit for me. I also bought the original which was written in the 30s with more of the King James English. I like them both, but can relate better to this updated version and find it a helpful guide that reminds me of a variety of things to pray for that I may otherwise neglect. There are 2 prayers for each day, morning and evening as well as an extra two that are 'specially suited for Sundays. While I do not agree with some of Baillie's doctrinal beliefs, that does not deter the over-all value.

Reflective, Illuminating, Helpful
This book was recommended by a friend - it is a little known classic. I am so grateful for the tip. Here are conversations to have with God. The benefit of other people's prayers is that they broaden our own limited experience and vocabulary to take us to places before God where we might not otherwise go. I find this helpful in reflection, meditation, prayer and application. I am constantly amazed how relevant the morning or evening prayer for the day has proven to be in daily life. I had never before bought and engaged with a book of someone else's prayers. It has not been lazy praying, it has been expanded praying. Very highly recommended.

This is a beautiful book that will take you deeper with God. John Baillie's prayers have a timeless quality because they are both honest and scriptural. I have never found written prayers particularly helpful before discovering this book but it has helped draw me closer to God. I am sure that I will come back to it again and again.
