Unequaled
Simply Amazing. He puts you in the cockpit with him and you can feel the lines and the rudder in your hands.

... if these voyages were true but he's such a great story-teller, who cares
Hard to say if these voyages were true but he's such a great story-teller, who cares! I read 'Ice' many years ago from a book that I borrowed and I wanted to read it a second time. I wasn't disappointed. If fact I was more impressed than when I read it the first time with hundreds if not thousands of miles covered on my humble home-built sailboat.

Wonderful sailing adventure
I am not familiar with the author, I don't sail and I admit that the technical aspects were over my head but this book was beautiful. I loved it. It was funny and emotional and I do not care if it was fact or fiction. It was great and I recommend this book highly!

DARK ICE COLD SURVIVAL
Great Ice/snow/sailing......midnight sun stuff. I also read his Down the Danube book. Not quite Riddle of the Sands or Round The World Under Sail, but very gutsy in hard to find knowledge of ICE/SEA adventure.

Very entertaining and well written.
I don't care weather or not his accounts are true, it was a great reading. Entertaining and well written with a cool style.

I love this and all the books by Tristan Jones
I love this and all the books by Tristan Jones. He reminds me of a slightly horny and somewhat grumpy old guy with a vast lifetime experience of single handed sailing in some of the most remote and trying locales on our planet. Great read.

Really poor Kindle Edition
Badly scanned kindle version with no proof reading - really ruined this for me as I was never quite sure if bits were missing. Also nothing told me this was an American English addition... not very honorable eek

a story of loneliness
I liked this story which I first read 25 years ago and it was still as good second time around . How we deal with loneliness is always interesting

Great story
Ice is a fantastic story. This is the book that started my fascination with sailing and adventuring long distances, even solo. I highly reccommend this book to anyone who thinks there is no adventure left to be found in the world.

Is it true ?
After reading this exciting adventure with a glorious dog found, to my dismay, that Tristan Jones probably invented this whole episode, together with many of his other stories.. ?
