Resolution [DVD]

An early film by Moorhead and Benson that I was one of literally dozens to see first time round. It seemed like a typical low budget movie - but it's characters were grounded so I kept watching and I made it to the end. Overall it was a bigger and better realised movie than I'd expected but still low-budget-indie watch-once type stuff. Half way through The Endless, these characters turn up and it was only then I realised it was the same film makers. Watching The Endless it was incredible to see how they'd grown as film makers and actors - The Endless plays with the same central theme but expands on it in some interesting ways. Resolution is a hard film to rate because 3 stars always seems like a bit of a put-down - but I'd say this was good (but not for everyone), while The Endless is great. Benson and Moorhead have become a pair of filmakers I will watch anything by - but even I found revisiting Resolution a bit of a hike at times.

utter waste of my time watching this, complete garbage and absolutely NOT in any way a "horror" film. Two annoying guys in a cabin swearing and shouting, some garbled references to some kind of supernatural stuff come in about 2/3 of the way through but goes nowhere. AVOID. How anyone could say this is 'genuinely creepy' 'disturbing' etc is beyond me, even if they are 12 years old. i had more scares from postman pat.

This film really reminds me of Music of Chance, it's not visually similar at all but it has the same slow burn inescapable feeling to it. It was genuinely creepy and disturbing in a number of places, enough to make me actually feel afraid. Not for gore fans. Not for anyone who uses the word 'boring' a lot in reviews - it's slow and the scariness is a part of that, so it might not hit the spot.It's a different concept and I thought it was a really interesting and frightening film.

amazing.this is a slow burner so will not appeal to everyone but it is an amazing piece of film. truly underrated. i will not go into details and spoil the plot but this is an amazingly well written story. really gripping, really heart-wrenching! this may be a "horror" film but it speaks volumes about the human condition and the bonds of friendship in the face of darkness and self destruction.

Superb meta horror, beautifully acted and paced storytelling.

Really well acted, though the ending was a bit of a let down

Messy direction, lacking any real narrative structure, indifferent acting & poorly scripted, effects that cost less than the price of a pint. Apart from aforementioned shortcomings, it's a really bad film...
