Probably the most pleasantly surprising kitchen appliance I've ever bought
After using both a blender and a mortar & pestle for grinding various seeds and spices with not a very high degree of success, it occurred to me to buy a coffee grinder. This is the only thing that has worked for grinding flax seeds, so that you get exactly the same consistency as that of the ground flax bought in store, but fresh. It also grinds chia seeds, so that they can be used in recipes without the crunchy texture.Depending on the specific seed/spice/herb you want to grind, it might grind it more or less coarsely; it handles different materials differently. I've managed to try the following so far:- grinding peppercorns into a coarse mixture- grinding mint and rose petals into a powder- grinding cinnamon sticks into a powder didn't work - it was still too coarse to be called a powder, so I'll stick to store-bought cinnamon powder- grinding whole hemp seeds still didn't make them palatable to me, since there are still coarse pieces of the shell that get stuck in my teeth and irritate my soft palate. I'd recommend to buy shelled hemp seeds, or hemp flour. This grinder however did manage to soften them to a consistency I'd consider the most usable.- grinding all these to an almost-powder consistency: star anise, cloves, mustard seeds, celery seed, chilli flakes, lemon peel, orange peel, allspice, fennel seeds, dried cut ginger, ... infinite possibilities!- to my greatest pleasant surprise, creating a very fine powder from granulated erythritol. This would most likely work for any other granulated sweeetener.- if used long enough, it can actually make a nut/seed butter, which my blender definitely cannot doThis grinder works because it actually crushes the seeds/spices, whereas my blender has cutting ninja blades, which just chase the seeds around the bowl, never actually slicing/crushing them. Mortar & pestle don't work on e.g. lemon peel and on herbs, which just get flattened underneath the pestle, and they're also too time-consuming.The cleaning is very easy; I just use the provided brush, and if needed, a wet/moist sponge or a kitchen towel. When I ground more spices in a row, I didn't find it necessary to always completely clean the grinder if the spices were similar; the brush was perfectly adequate. The bowl can be detached from the main body of the grinder, which is one of the main reasons why I chose this model - it makes cleaning and getting the ground food out of the bowl very easy. The grinder itself seems very safe, it's very easy to operate, and appears to be high quality. It is quite loud, but not moreso than other similar appliances. It heats up quite fast, which is also typical for such an appliance, and it's best to use it in short bursts; this is nothing unusual and just as I expected. The only complaint I'd have is that the plastic top got scratched immediately after I ground some cloves. I'm not overly worried about it as I'm sure the plastic is food-grade and completely safe, and it's merely an aesthetic concern, but it'd be nice to have a more durable material for the cover, since the majority of the grinder is stainless steel and seems like it'll last a long time. The same type of scratches seems to appear on a lot of food-grade plastic, e.g. some of the plastic food containers I own, so I'm not too surprised/disappointed about this.I'm so pleased with the product; I'm really very glad it occured to me to buy it for the purposes mentioned above. I can finally use my flax seeds and chia seeds, and have made a huge collection of various spice mixes, which was loads of fun. I've recommended it to my family as well, it's really awesome :)

Bit of a nuisance
The product did grind well but with 2 tops it wasn't really possible to see how things were progressing without taking both tops off which isn't easy.

This product is so simple to use.
This is excellent for grinding coffee beans. My husband is a big coffee drinker and is very pleased with this product. Coffee that has been freshly ground has a much richer taste. This grinder is very easy to clean, easy to use. I’m sure it will be great for grinding walnuts and almonds when I do my Easter baking.

Glad i bought it
This is fantastic bett3r the an my old one that has a to spill everywhere. I bought for spices and I'm not disappointed. I grounded coriander and peppercorns and very happy with the results. It has an internal lid to prevent spilling so no mess. It also looks very nice. Would recommend after a great deal of searching.
