Blue Stackable Recycling Bin Container with Handle 6 Gallon - 8 Pack of Bins

We moved to a small town in rural Oklahoma from the Dallas area. In Dallas, you just threw all of your recyclables into one giant wheeled cart and they'd take it away for you. Here, not only must you take your recyclables to the recycling center (and I am grateful that one opened up right when we moved here!), they must be sorted ahead of time. I tried various options: throw everything in a big box (we WERE still unpacking after all) and sort when I was ready to take them in. Uh, no, took too long. Then I tried setting up various boxes for pre-sorting. Nope, that system fell apart quickly. Then I tried pre-sorting into plastic bags. Nope, that system fell apart quickly. Did I mention that my husband can't be bothered with figuring out which bag/box is which? And then I bought these. PERFECT!! Heavy duty, stackable, and easy the ones that need to be emptied into the car. I put labels on the front to help my husband (e.g., #1 Plastic - clear, #2 Plastic - Cloudy/opaque, etc.). I am so glad I found these AND that I bought 8 of them - if one bin overfills, then there's another to put things into. See the picture - the large bins are for cardboard and newspapers.

Good for storage in the shed. Too small for recyclables.

These bins work as advertised. They are sturdy and stackable.My only complaint is that some of them are on the small side. We use them for sorting our recycling for a family of four. These are great for some items, but not large enough capacity for others.These work perfectly for aluminum cans and steel cans. I'd estimate that 30 crushed metal cans can fit in each bin. Those takes us two to three weeks to fill.These are acceptable for newspaper and glass. It takes us over a week to fill up those bins. A fair amount can fit. I'd like bins that are maybe just a smidgen larger for these.For mixed paper and for plastic, these bins are woefully undersized. A few flattened cereal boxes or a few flattened gallon milk jugs will completely fill one of these bins. I'm using two of these bins for each and they still fill up in under a week. I've found some 23 gallon containers that I'll put next to this stack for those.Our other big recycling items is brown cardboard boxes. I don't even try to use these bins for that. I lean the flattened boxes up against this stack. The smallest boxes might be able to fit in a bin, but most boxes don't even come close.It turns out that "one size fits all" doesn't cover all my recycling needs.

I know everyone says these are small, but when they arrived, I was still a little surprised. That said, they are tall, more so than wide, and you can fill them up with quite a lot of recycled items. Plus, do you really want to haul a super-heavy crate to your car? I sure don't, and in about six months, my family will be moving to a loft where I'll have to lug my recycling down a flight of stairs. Not to mention that there's only so many crates that will fit in my vehicle. What's great about these is that they are sturdy, and stackable. If I already have my items sorted into my 8 bins before I go, it makes dumping them at the recycling center much faster. My young son usually whines about having to help, but was pleasantly surprised that it took almost no time at all to simply pour each bucket in the appropriate container. The material is entirely plastic, and smooth with no ridges or bumps on the inside, which should make it easy to clean when I get to that point. And lastly, the nice hand-written note from Tom at Recycling Rules was sweet.

These are great bins. They look small but hold a surprising amount. Since they stack easily, they take up very little floor space. I bought the 8-pack so we could have four each upstairs and downstairs. The folding handles make transporting the recycling to the sorting center a breeze. Recycling Rules might consider also making them in a neutral color, such as beige, so that they don't stand out quite so much in a home; we're considering using krylon fusion on ours, but will probably just leave them as-is.

I ordered this 8 pack to organize my two 7 cubic ft. chest freezers. The item description was absolutely perfect, including the dimensions, which took the hassle out of finding something of the right size. The option to purchase an 8 pack was also perfect, as I needed 4 bins for each freezer. These bins are very sturdy and the handles make it very easy to pull out of the freezer to get to the lower bins. The handles also fold forward to allow the bins to stack nicely. I would definitely order more for other home organization projects!

I was anticipating larger containers. We have to take our recycling materials to the recycling center and these don't allow for much in terms of volume, requires more frequent trips to the center

These bins are great. I ordered them because of the way they stack and the handles. This will make trips to the recycling center much easier. I used to have recycling pick up in my area but ended up canceling it after witnessing the garbage company throw out my recycling on multiple occasions. These fit perfect along the wall of the garage. The bins are on the small side, but I just use 2 or 3 of them for the items that accumulate quicker.Great product!
