WWE: Cheating Death, Stealing Life - The Eddie Guerrero Story [DVD]

The main program is good, the matches are classics
I enjoyed the main program, which is an hour long and covers a bit about the life and turmoils of Eddie Guerrero. After reading his book first, the DVD doesn't really compare in terms of telling the story of his problems with drugs and alcohol, and his struggles to overcome them. However, you get a better feel about the kind of person Eddie was through the interviews. The matches included on the DVD are AWESOME. I'd love another Eddie DVD, since there are a lot of classics not on here, but what they included for the most part is great. My only complaint is that they put a 6-man tag match on there from an AWA PPV with Eddie's brothers taking on Cactus Jack and two others. Eddie wasn't in this match, and the match wasn't very good. I don't know why it was included.

R.I.P Eddie Guerrero
This dvd is not the best example of Eddie. The documentary on him is from a speical on UPN and not really well made. There are ten matches and most of them have been seen elsewhere. Now that Eddie's passed on, maybe WWE will re-release this set with better matchs and a better biography. Its sad how WWE has used Eddie's name on tv to get the heels some real heat. Eddie always promised to steal the show and he delivered. The best match ive ever witnessed him wrestle will not be on a dvd set. It was a house show I attended the year he died a few weeks away from SummerSlam. He wrestled Rey Mysterio in a falls count anywhere match and those two tore it up all over the building. Eddie got kicked in the face with a chair and bleed a gusher. No one knew how he pulled it off. Afterwards he got on the mic and said Dominic is still my son or something to that degree. It felt speical even though it was a house show. Again, a decent set for now but hopefully they'll make a better one.

good
The Eddie Guerrero story is a surprisingly well done documentary of a 17 year veteran who dealt with the demons on the outside, and more importantly, the demons on the inside. It goes on to tell how Eddie overdosed on drugs more than once, and when he got into a near fatal car accident, only to fight back and eventually win the wwe championship in a triumphant victory.

Ok documentary about the late Eddie Guerrero
It was ok, I liked the Viva La Raza a bit more though as it is more personal

Solid DVD
Enjoyed this very much as there were things in Eddie's life that needed to be explained more to us fans and this DVD does that IMO. Great matches were added to. I was a big Eddie fan so it was a no brainer to order this at some point. Get this DVD guys!

Moving Video
This video truly depicts Eddie, who he was, what he was like, and was just touching, when you watch it, you almost forget he's gone now, it feels like he's still there with that video going. It's wonderful to see the precious Guerrero family in it as well, worth having if you're a true Guerrero fan period.

Good, if not great review of a talented wrestler.
Great matches, but thought it lacked depth.

Good documentary
Overall I think this is a good product. It has that typical trait of WWE documentary DVDs where the extras almost become the main feature... because the main feature is about 45 minutes and the extras are a couple of hours.Documentary: short but genuine. Spends most of the time focussing on his drug/alcohol/painkiller abuse which means that this is a rather saddening feature without focussing enough on the successes of his career. It's interesting that this was released before his death rather than after because when you listen to Eddie talk you can tell that even though he's talking about his issues retrospectively, you're not entirely convinced that he's over them. I think it's a great insightful feature, with very genuine interviews and reflections but it's definitely too short.Extras: Excellent matches, 5 star quality wrestling.I would say it's great for wrestling fans but I'd be curious to try the other Eddie DVD that WWE released more recently and see if there's any more longevity in it.
