I thought these were illuminated switches and I didn't believe the "Grounded switch for safety" story. To the person asking for a schematic of the switch, it is just a SPST switch with the other (gold colored) terminal used for a return for the internal neon switch. The method for turning the neon light on is "hit or miss", mostly miss. A thin strip of brass extends upwards from the gold terminal and is supposed to make contact with one of the neon lamp leads when the switch is turned on, which it will do, maybe. If you want to check this out for yourself, the switch is easily disassempled using a small sharp straight blade screw driver. Just pry the sides apart near the holes where the pivot points for the red rocker part of the switch are located. The red part will come off and release the white internal part which contains the neon lamp and the spring which actually moves the contact on the switch. The only thing to be aware of is the movable contact just sits in a groove and is held in place by the spring which moves it. When the spring is removed, the movable contact is free to fall out if the switch is inverted, ie terminals up. There is actually a resistor in series with tlhe neon lamp, I think it is 100k ohms, which is required to limit the current through the neon lamp when it is connected across the 120 VAC line.The mounting hole as listed in the specification section is wrong. The width of the opening is just over 0.5 inch and the length is a little over 1.1 inch. Converted to metric that is about 13 mm x 26 or 27 mm.The gold return line for the neon lamp should be connected to the neutral line (white) not the green or bare ground line - according to NEC (National Electrical Code).

I needed the mini 3/4 x 1/2 and these are 0.41 x 0.90 - I will need to either modify the sander I needed a replacement switch for or modify the switch so it will fit - other then being the normal size these are real nice switches for boats or cars or anything else for that matter - I have been using this type of switch over 60 yrs and this is one of the best quality I have seen so far for most applications - as an update - I have already destroyed 6 of them - they would fail after I soldered them to the wires - use push on connectors and you should be OK - also I know how to solder with a soldering iron that I have used since April 7 1969 -

The switches work well and fit in the standard hole of the voltage regulators, the only fault was that they gave me a 10% discount on the items, and not on the money, since they only sent me 9 switches of the 10 that come the package ....?

I liked the on light feature. They just don't hold up. Something was wrong with the new batch that I purchased because they worked fine but after a while, they went bad. I had installed them in a product that costs a lot for shipping. So when they went bad I had to pay large sums of money for returns. Not worth it. I cannot buy these again.

Although it seemed like a good deal half of the switches were faulty either not working at all or doesn't make good contact and turns off after a few minutes. Luckily I only needed 4 of the 10 you get what you pay for.
