Amerex B402, 5lb ABC Dry Chemical Class A B C Fire Extinguisher, with Wall Bracket

These are the same price and locally available, simliarly sized units for sale at the hardware store. But, these come with a mounting hook, and all the hardware is metal, unlike the locally available ones.Two reasons for not giving it a 4 star rating:1. I wish the mounting hook was a full bracket that held the unit securely. It is just a hook, and it would be easy to knock the extinguisher off the hook. If you are going to place this in a high traffic area, then I'd recommend buying the aftermarket bracket.2. I ordered three of these units. I ended up having to get 3 different replacements shipped out because the tamper seal was broken when I received them. I use these in a commercial apartment, and the tamper seal is required for code. The company replaced them without hassle, but it was just a hassle having to wait for replacements.

Well-built unit, fully charged. Two problems which prevent a five-star rating: As with other reviewers, the tamper-proof plastic seal was broken (and in bottom of the box, in my case.) And the plastic strip which prevents loss of the safety pin is so stiff that it actually pulls the pin out of place; I will be cutting it off and replacing it with string. I have emailed the seller to ask if the problems will be remedied in the future, and I'll report back if I get a substantive reply.

The pull pin is attached to the extinguisher by two pieces of plastic. One is permanent, meant to retain the pin after it is pulled so you don't lose it. The other is a tamper seal that holds the pin in place until someone pulls it. The permanent length of plastic is stiff. It wants to straighten out and push the pin out/away from the extinguisher. If the tamper seal is broken, the pin will just "eject" from the safe position. That's the condition both of mine arrived in out of the box. The tamper seal was wrapped in place but broken, and the pin was most of the way out. A little more jostling and it could have fallen out completely and let the extinguisher discharge. I can totally see why people are receiving these already discharged.In my case I don't have a code reason to need a true tamper seal so I just secured the ring with thread (strong enough to avoid the pin's self-eject tendency but weak enough to break when someone pulls it).

Great manufacturer, good value and is 2nd one of this type that I've purchased. Just remember to turn upside once a year an thump sides with someone "non-puncturing" to keep chemical loose inside if not used.

Thankfully i have not had to use this yet. I am giving it 5 stars because i know many large institutions (hospitals) that use this product. Amarex seems to be a very trusted name. A while ago i purchased a Kiddie ABC fire extinguisher and it lost pressure at some point. Luckily i noticed it before i needed it and ordered a replacement.

Hard to really know if it is good till you need it! Having said that, It has a metal head and came fully charged. Has an easy to use bracket if you need to retrieve it in a hurry. Kind of just a hook. Also, remember to put on the included zip tie thingy to hold pin in place until needed. I didn't on last one and pin fell off and it was bumped into... mess.

Obviously, no experience using it yet. However, units arrived promptly and came with mounting bracket as indicated. This is known to be a good brand, but should be checked annually and recharged every 5-6 yrs or immediately after using it

Hate to even give 1 Star!!Extinguisher arrived covered in dust, pin pulled, and emptied!!! I paid $50 for this???!? This is a dirty paper weight! It won’t stop any fire!Update: They sent me a fully charged and operational charge extinguisher to replace the defective unit. I’ll up the rating to two stars because of that, but nothing higher because their quality control should never have let the bad unit ship in the first place.
