Useful tool!
Most of the other reviews have pretty much covered just about everything I would say however I still want to say I love this tool. Not being someone who has had a lot of theory under my belt, it's been useful to help me learn the letters of keys. Slowly I am making progress at memorizing key signatures so that I know where I am on the fretboard & where I can go from there. I use it by putting it on my music stand, dialing in the key I want, turn on the drum machine & simply play the chords in that key to the beat. Then when I want to practice the relevant scales of the key, I simply look at the letters and count the fingering for the corresponding note. It's that easy. I will say that I do agree that the instructions are a wee bit too thin for my taste but music notation & theory is not a subject that the average player is adept with. Most folks are self taught like moi where theory is concerned. To really grasp it, one simply has to plod along actually performing the exercises repeatedly. But with rote repetition, eventually comes that "Eureka!" moment from time to time & more falls into place. Unlike some others, I'm not one to lug something this around in my gig bag. Who really is going to set & study material like this prior to a gig? That's what you do at home and it's called 'Practice' for a reason. I give this 5 out of 5 stars because it really is a fantastic learning tool & is relatively simple to use as long as you have some inkling of music theory. If not, you may want to take some lessons & then use this as a study guide along with your regular lessons.

Music is a math of audible and visual signatures!
This just added another educational tool to further support and develop my recent (better late than never!) quest to more thoroughly know my fretboard neck notes and better apply Circle of 5th's knowledge choices with music keys and how to convert songs from one key to another if needed. Great product and NO REGRETS!!! -Shane C. Dayton, Ohio

Its a very nice tool
The Guitar Wheel is quite the interesting tool for any musician, whether it is a guitar player, piano player or you want measure chord formation. The product itself are 3 shiny plastic wheels pressed against each other with a pin, the center one being the one that has the numbers and letters imprinted, a process that required extreme calculation and excellent design just by looking at it, worth alone the effort of the authors. You move the plastic tab on the right side and make it fit to the main note you are looking for. Its really that good, and will be very useful. The reason this item deserves 4 stars its because it feels cheap, specially with the guitar drawing on the center. FYI for those of you looking on where items are manufactured. MADE IN CHINA.

Amazing for any guitarist longing to boost their songwriting.
The guitar wheel should be taken for face value when you consider purchasing it. It shows all related scales and chords(and inversions) within any given key. This alone is incredibly useful, but in combination with other musical instructional books(such as the guitar grimoire scale book)- you will have all the knowledge needed to start constructing fully realized and theoretically sound music. I personally love this purchase, and I would recommend it to any guitarist or pianist wanting to elevate their music game.

Guitar Wheel Music Theory Educational Tool
I bought this for my husband to help him self-learn guitar, but there are no instructions and it seems too complicated for him to work it out. This probably would have been helpful if he had a teacher show him how to use it. I don't blame the product. He is not at a level where it's helpful.

Glad I bought it.
For me, this thing right now is making my head explode. I "get" the concepts and it is really a neat device. I am going to have to spend some time to internalize this thing conceptually. They have a website that I spent some time on this morning, and I have already picked up some help from the website. It will be somewhat of a learning curve for a lot of folks, and perhaps for some who already have some theory under their belts it will speed things up. I can't endorse this thing highly enough. Although somewhat pricey, it is NOT made out of cheap cardboard and should be a reference tool that will last for 30+ years I would imagine. Overall, I am glad I bought it. Actually, I bought two- one for me and one for my nephew who will be getting a guitar for Christmas along with the Guitar Wheel and other learning material. He already plays trumpet in the school band and I envision this tool making more sense to him in a shorter period of time than for me.

Great reference tool
This is a great reference tool for anyone with basic music theory knowledge and above. It acts as a quick and convenient reference tool that has an extensive listing of relationships and correlations between note, chords, scales, and more. You can use it to help you with preforming, composing, or simply study. However, if you do not have any prior knowledge of music theory than I suggest you get a good book to go along with this tool, as the manual only contains instructions on how to use the tool (not on how to use music theory). If you look at this and everything looks like the greek language, then you'll find this to be a very handy tool to go along with that new music theory book you need to buy. ;-)

Circle of Fifths Unfurled
I bought this item to have a handy reference guide for learning music theory on the guitar and have been thoroughly pleased and impressed with how smart and useful this gizmo has been. Not being a trained musician, this has helped me understand aspects of music theory as a stand alone aid and is even better when used in conjunction with other music theory books. This tool takes some effort to understand (there's lots of information contained on it), but it proves to be an extremely useful reference tool once you learn how to use it. Much more than a circle of fifths wheel!
