The perfect secure camera backpack for the minimalist or light traveler.
I have several PacSafe bags and love the security they provide when traveling. I also love traveling light and the X17 offers me an great option to carry my mirrorless camera with 2 additional lens as well as my P&S Sony DSC-HX90. I can carry a light packed lunch or a light-weight jacket in the area above the camera vault. My only issue is with the padded divider shelves as only comes with 2 different sized offerings which limits storage options. My work-around is to use a divider shelf or 2 from another smaller camera bag in conjunction with the ones offered. But I would definitely recommend this camera backpack to anyone who loves to travel light and don't like a lot of bulk. I love the integrated rain cover which I got to use right after I received the pack. The weight is minimal, the straps are nicely padded and comfortable, and the lumbar support allows for airflow to keep the wearer from getting overheated by the pack.

Ideal minimalist photographers EDC
I've carried a Lowpro Sling bag for my Canon 7dii with lens attached plus another lens, various gear, a few snacks, etc. Added a Surface Pro 6 (in its case) to my gear and now I needed find the new "perfect" bag to carry everyday that fits a small laptop and is still comfortable, durable for hiking, side quick camera access, etc.Searched... Researched... Read hours of reviews (wished there were more reviews on this bag so I added many pictures to help others in their search :) and decided to try the PacSafe.Extremely happy with this choice!Pros - Zippers, Build, Design, Stitching, Material are all top notch.Dedicated protected laptop slot that doubles as a water bladder slot instead for long hikes.Cons - Not much... if I had to nitpick... some of the movable padding dividers are kind of thin (not bad) but I added some from a different bag.

Still one of the best camera bags I’ve used.
I previously had the Pacsafe V16 Sling bag which went around the world with me for 15 months. It never got slashed (that I’m aware of) nor pickpocketed, but it did perform fairly well. It was the perfect size for a small DSLR and a couple of lenses. The smaller size made me re-evaluate all the gear I was carrying, but was large enough to carry most everything I needed for more than a year including a 12” MacBook. It survived a motorcycle crash with the contents undamaged. I can’t say the outside looked good but it still functioned. That’s the main reason I bought this one. However, the sling strap on the V16 wasn’t comfortable so I wanted regular backpack straps. Carrying 15 kg. on one shoulder isn’t something I recommend. I just wish Pacsafe read my previous review of the V16 before they designed the X17. Here are some of my observations about this version so far.Two straps are better than one. A DSLR and two pieces of good glass are heavy. You may not think it is at first, but after 5-6 hours, it feels like it weights 50 lb. These straps aren’t as thick as my previous bag, but there’s two of them so the weight is distributed. The redesigned strap locking mechanism seems easier to use. Instead of a plastic buckle, it uses a twist and lock metal clasp. The straps have a sternum strap and attachment points for additional pouches as well as D-rings to use clip straps for the camera. The zippers have been redesigned. On one hand, the main top compartment zipper interlocks making it harder for a pickpocket to open, but it also makes it harder for me to open. Luckily that’s only the main compartment. The outside pocket and the side opening for the camera itself is still secured using the same clip as the V16. Unfortunately, this bag uses solid zipper pulls which are harder to manipulate than the flexible wire zipper pulls on the V16.The outside of the bag is still fairly plain and doesn’t draw attention to the fact that you’re carrying camera gear. It still has the wire mesh layered in the outside fabric to thwart bag slashers.I used the side pocket on the V16 to carry a small travel tripod and it eventually wore holes through the material. The X17 uses the same soft material, so I don’t expect it to fare any better. I wish they would have found a better fabric or mesh. They added a couple extra small pockets to the smaller outside compartment. Good for memory cards, change, or other small accessories. The inside padding has been made stiffer. Better protection for your gear, but harder to get the camera in and out.The X17 is a the next evolution of the V16. Some things have been improved, such as the strap locking mechanism. Some problems weren’t addressed, such as the side pouch. And some things were changed, but didn’t really improve the functionality, such as the zippers. All in all, it’s a pretty good camera bag that doesn’t look like a camera bag. It’s a good size for lightweight travel with enough space for all the essentials.

Great compact bag for day hiking, has hydration pack pocket and hole!
This backpack is big enough to fit my Fuji X-T4 with a 56mm lens, a 90mm lens and a 16mm lens in the padded camera area. It has provisions for a hydration pack and the front pocket goes all the way down to the bottom of the bag (deep pocket). I have enough room in the main compartment to store a pair of shoes and some clothes if I wanted to.The backpack features nice locking mechanisms to prevent anyone from picking your bag.To anyone trying to figure out how to operate the right shoulder release mechanism. You twist the right side end like a key counter clockwise and then you press the same end in (you’ll feel the spring). The entire strap slides off to the right while you hold down the spring.

Good, secure bag that doesn't scream "Cameras"
I've had this bag for a couple of weeks now. I bought it for a trip to Europe that I'm now in the middle of. It looks like a standard backpack, not a camera bag. I'm an old guy with back problems but I've been able to wear this bags for hours while wandering around old German cities. My kit consists of a Sony A7 IV with a Tamron 28-200 lens plus a Tamron 20mm f/2.8 and a Samyang 45mm f/1.8. Those go in the main compartment. In the top compartment, I have a Sony A6500 (converted for infrared) with a Sony 16-70 f/4 lens alongside a small Platypod with a ballhead. The front pocket has extra batteries and cards along with a few filters and a cleaning cloth. The bag is comfortable and the locks seem very secure. They're not terribly convenient to open but that's the point of the bag so no problem there. One could wish for more pockets, but it works well enough.

Side opening not big enough
I had such high hopes for this bag. It ticks all of the boxes: anti theft, compartments for laptop and other carry on items plus space for your camera. Unfortunately, the side opening where you access your camera and lenses is really small. My nikon 7500 basically takes up the entire opening space and it's not easy to take in and out. If the x25 ever comes back in stock maybe I will try that. In the mean time, this is being returned.
