Jean-Claude Van Damme (Black Eagle, Hard Target) stars as a soldier drawn into the world of modern-day gladiators fighting for the amusement of the rich in this fast moving action thriller co-written by Van Damme himself! Upon receiving news that his brother in Los Angeles is seriously injured, Lyon Gaultier (Van Damme) Deserts the French Foreign Legion from a remote outpost in North Africa. Fleeing from two of the Legion's security force who have orders to bring him back at any cost, Lyon reluctantly turns to the illegal, bare-knuckles underground fighting circuit to raise the money he needs to help his brother's family. From legendary action director Sheldon Lettich (Double Impact, Bloodsport), this riveting action adventure also stars Harrison Page (Bad Ass), Brian Thompson (The Terminator), Ashley Johnson (The Help) and a cameo appearance by Jeff Speakman (The Perfect Weapon) and combines the raw power and charisma of Van Damme with the exciting world of no-holds-barred street fighting. Review: JCVD's absolute best work! - This is easily Van Damme's best movie of them all. Not only is he in his physical prime, but he's really got his acting chops down as well. And this was totally from the heart, as he had a hand the script as well. Believe it from someone who has seen nearly all his films, that absolutely none of them have JC acting as sincerely as in this one. This truely was JCVD's "Rocky". JCVD is enough of a bad-ass in real life, but everyone likes to imagine himself as even better ... he's really proud of his French (actually Belgian) heritage in this one, and plays a Foreign Legionnaire, known for their incredible toughness. This gem is as touching a story as a martial arts flick gets, and nearly good for all ages, as the profanity and nudity are at a bare minimum. In fact, I find it hard to recall a single death scene. Great acting and stunts from all the supporting cast. Awesome movie! Review: Van Damage Began His Absolutely Unique & Iconic Streak of Hollywood Action Films w Lionheart. The Little Movie That Did. - One of Jean-Claude Van Damage's greatest films (and, as any true action film afficianado will tell you, that's saying something); Lionheart (Leon, to our beloved UK action friends) combines a little of everything that will become staples of the 'JCVD action film': French Legionnaires, street fighting, protecting loved ones, pushing himself to get up after all looks bleak, etc. From dirty fights under an overpass, to penthouse fights for yuppie, coke heads: JCVD faces all on-comers & doesn't quit. Van-Damme has finally begun to get the full respect he deserves. He's directed a truly fantastic film, that's due a fresh look, starring himself & Roger Moore (one of his last, best roles) in a 30s-period, adventure film: The Quest. He single handedly brought John Woo to the States, w the groundbreaking, 90s action classic: Hard Target. He also recruited legendary, Chinese Cinema director's, Tsui Hark (Double Trouble) & Ringo Lam (Knock-Off), for two of the most insane, hilarious & highly entertaining, US action films of all time. The list goes on & on. But, it all started with one film: Lionheart.

abouut the movie lionheart.......
The story basically talks about Van Damme running away from army work to hekp his brother's family to overcome financially after his bother was killed by some 'gansters' or something. He earn his income throught some underground fighting which he later give to his brother's wife(if I've not forgotten the story). They are good numbers of action fighting scenes which I could say is a remarkable effort put into this movie/film. The only problem is that this movie/film is using indication of knife which is rather unsuitable for kids (that type of thing, the 'bear' issue or this..chinese) to watch. A very good recommendation to those whom are interested in this genre of movie/film.....Enjoy.... N/B: Watch out for the following films near your theatre (if any):- Films ------- Luan xing hao qing, gambler's woes, terrorist(9/11), death from cult , playboy death, love tomb, sex obsession, Japanese army, man and woman mass killer, tennage problem, sexual fantasy, 1046, poisonous personality, sex crimes, sleeping beauty, baby killer, secret society, life of two woman, the fate of vignette's life, industrial tragedy, shares danger, out of justice 2, hooker's tragic loss, out of justice 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 and 11, credit card case, pirate organization, sex police officer, sex doctor, Kenneth and keith, laurel levor, crook's work, office tragedy, workholic, mafia, illegal business, caught head on, illicit internet business, illicit internet business 2, internet misuse, quick death, ship building tragedy, sea pirates, Diary of Richard Rills (war violence, Imax), nuclear coverup, follow me up, Johnny, illegal betting, illegal trading, Mrs white, Elaine riggs, swimming pool, bacterial war, society problem, tragic death, road accident, wu shu tiao zhan (kong fu competition, Imax), dictatorship, high risk, mechanic woes, sybil, sense of guilt, skallagrig, Lorene kerry, john levor, school life, crayon of life, lawfully abandoned, dark days, blink of death 1, 2 & 3, danger zone 1 & 2 and blood ranger, pathetic state, wet market woes and katherine soval....Enjoy..

Great Martial Arts Action
One of my favorite films of his. Fighting style is a bit dated but still very watchable and he still has the best looking kicks in a Martial Arts films. Scott Adkins and Jason Statham styles come across as more brutal and I love watching those guys as well as both are exceptionally talented. I would like to see Van Damme update his films with a more current action film style. Seeing all three together would be enjoyable as well. Defintely worth a watch if you haven't seen it.

My favorite Van Damme movie
I regularly re watch this movie for its heart. It's one of Van Damme's best 'B' movies in my opinion and my favorite. The actor playing Joshua- Harrison Page does a great job. Even the legionnaire soldiers sent to fetch him back show compassion at the end. Van Damme's character Lionheart is also well done. Throughout the movie and the violence he stays focused on what really matters and that's his family. Everything he does is for them and he stays true to that purpose. Just a solid "B" movie that has a great ending and makes you feel good when it's over.

Bad Product!!!!
I wish I could rate this a zero. This is the 2nd dvd I ordered within a week. It looks like something someone burned themselves. Both DVD's did not play. It comes on as if it will play but once the movie starts, it skips from the beginning until the end. Very disappointed & will be returning the 2nd one too. Bad product!
