CORSAIR K70 RGB RAPIDFIRE Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - USB Passthrough & Media Controls - Fastest & Linear - Cherry MX Speed - RGB LED Backlit

Since they combined all the K70 keyboards into one Amazon review page, I thought it'd be best to clarify that I'm reviewing the K70 Speed! :DI have owned in the past-Corsair K70 RGB [Cherry MX Brown]-Corsair K65 RGB [Cherry MX Red]-Razer Black Widow Ultimate [Razer Greens]-Logitech G910 Orion Spark [Romer-G]-Logitech G810 Orion Spectrum [Romer-G]Corsair took their K70 and turned it into something that people like me would love, without the hassle of buying things like "o-ring switch dampeners" to lessen noise and reach the lowest possible actuation point. My ideal keyboard for my living and gaming situation is something not annoyingly loud, doesn't feel like it takes forever to bottom out, and doesn't feel "mushy". I was looking at getting Cherry MX Browns and new several companies used those switches, but Corsair was my answer when I found out how fantastically built their keyboards were compared to the competition. Their Brown switches were pretty ideal for my situation but the actuation point was just not what I wanted, and it still would require o-ring dampeners for what I wanted . Then I saw they made a Rapid Fire Edition for their K70 and I absolutely had to try it, and i'm glad I did.Lighting - Everyone who's owned a Corsair RGB keyboard in the past is already aware how awesome their software is, but how complicated it CAN be. Even if you're unable to comprehend what on Earth you're supposed to do to make the sickest lighting possible for your set up, there are always downloadables from the Corsair Forums that people have shared. Someone like me just doesn't want to take the time to fiddle with programming their own lighting. It's a fun feature to have, but I'm just not THAT into getting into the nitty gritty of it. I simply don't have the patience for it, so it's awesome that there is a community dedicated to creating and sharing their creations for everyone to use. As far as the actual lighting, it's as stunning as can be..even better than the Original K70 and K65 by a small margin. It looks sharp, has smooth transitions between colors, and the letters on the keys are actually larger than on Corsair's original K70 and K65 RGB. I like this because a lot more light can shine through to the user and makes it that much more pleasing to look at, without the size of the letters being too odd looking. It may not seem like much but I directly compared them side by side and the Rapid Fire is a lot nicer to look at with only changing such a small detail. Who woulda thought.Build - No one, and I mean no one, makes a better keyboard than Corsair from what I've experienced. Razer and Logitech feel cheap and their products are made of plastic. Corsair really has outdone themselves building keyboards made of a heavier, sturdy, brushed aluminum. It really makes the keyboard look and feel like it's built to last. It's just a really nice looking piece of hardware to add into anyone's setup. I'm also a huge fan of Corsair building their keyboards in a way that sits the keys above the back board rather than within the keyboard itself, like Razer's older models of RGB keyboards and all of Logitech's current ones. It makes cleaning the keyboard much easier. Hair and dust cannot settle anywhere you cannot reach, you will be able to clean it ALL. I also think it improves the lighting by helping light shine through to the user. Also, Corsair put the Sail Logo on the keyboard and not the silly tattoo looking "gaming" logo.Rapid Fire Switches - This was the most exciting part for me. Having owned previous Corsair keyboards, I knew what to expect when it came to the quality of lighting and build. I got this keyboard FOR these switches because of the "1.2mm" actuation. I play a lot of Counter Strike Global Offensive and want equipment that just feels right for me when I'm trying to, very quickly, strafe left to right between shots. The faster my keys bottom out, the better. I had Logitech's Orion Series keyboards because of their shortened actuation key switches, and they were enjoyable, but the Romer-Gs just don't compare to the Cherry MX switch feel. These Rapid Fire Keys are NOT CLICKY switches like the Razer Greens or Cherry MX Blues, or even MX Browns. The Rapid Fire Switches are very comparable to Cherry MX Reds or Blacks, but with a much shorter actuation. Very smooth and pretty quiet unless you like to really really slam on your keys and bottom them out hard. It'll make a noise when it bottoms out with normal typing, but it's nothing too crazy, again unless you like you slam on your keys. When I owned my Cherry MX Reds and Browns I took time to install those darn o-rings that took forever to put on. Although they helped on my older K70 and K65 with actuation, it took away the true mechanical feel because you were no longer able to bottom out on the backboard. It may seem like a really small thing to worry about, but I really that satisfying "clack" you get at the bottom of the key press against the aluminum backboard. Building a keyboard with a shortened actuation without the need of o-rings really solved my own personal issues I've had with other companies products. Thanks a million Corsair!The keyboard also comes with 2 sets of grey mouse key caps. One of which I have installed as you may be able to see from the pictures. One for FPS, the other for MOBA gamers.Recap- High quality build- Brushed aluminum body- Enlarged letter sizes to enhance lighting effects- Easy to clean- Corsair's sail logo- Comes with wrist rest [rubberized plastic]- Media Keys are always helpful to have on these keyboards- Switches feel smooth and are pleasant to type withI will update as needed if something breaks, stops working, etc.Edit: Corsair..If you happen to come across this review...if you guys make a Rapid Fire Edition with a small additional tactile bump while somehow maintaining a similar actuation....It would be my perfect, flawless, no complaint, love it till I die, keyboard. I hope you guys are working on something like this. Fingers Crossed :)

After going through some mishaps, I finally found THE ONE!!!! I'm a bit heavy handed person and rest my fingers on the keyboard a lot. Finally decided to get Red. Here are the ones I tried out and thanks to Amazon return policy, I was able to try them all and return them for free. One negative point I'd point out is that they shipped me a used Speed version of the keyboard which they sorted out for me immidiately.Speed VS Brown VS Red:Speed switches was super fast response when playing games like Overwatch and Battleground. I actually really liked the lightning response the keyboard but the problem was it was too sensitive. I'd barely touch the key and it'd type out things I didn't want to. If you're light handed and love fast response for gaming, definitely get this keyboard. It's effortless to play on and it's super fast.Brown switches are the ones I got after Speed. I noticed my wrist started hurting after a intense Overwatch comp session because of how much harder you had to press the keys compared to the Speed keys. Typing definitely was easier on it but the key clicks felt very cheap for me. It was great that it wasn't that sensitive but didn't like the fact that I had to push a bit too much to get it going, especially after experiencing the Speed keys. This was a no go for me, although lot of people like it. I think if the keys didn't feel so cheap to type with, I woulda liked it more. I'd skip this one and just go for the blues for typing if that was the case.Red switches are the ones I settled with and LOVE THEM. They're actually perfect for me to type on and gaming on it is super comfortable. It's not overly sensitive as the Speed keys were so it works out perfect for me. Comfortable strength in key presses and I can go forever on this keyboard without getting tired. I love love love this one and am happy I went through all of them to find it.Overall quality of the keyboard is great, although you do get grease spots here and there. I do not like the grip keys much. They feel a bit too grippy and wish they were softer of a grip. There's more keys you press than WASD when playing and moving away from the grip makes it a bit harder to do that. Anyways, I love the Red Switch and this will be my keyboard for a very long time.I'd suggest you find a computer store to try all these different switches out. I had no idea there were so many but when you find the one you really like, it's pretty damn awesome.

Good build quality , buy the K90 to get 6 additional macro keys . Durable , good software for using profiles , can't save lighting profiles on the on-board memory though.

Ich kann das Keyboard nur weiterempfehlen. Es ist bis jetzt sehr stabil was die Tasten angeht und ich finds positiv, dass die nicht so laut 'klackern' wie meine vorherige Razer. Zusaetzlich ist der gut erreichbare Lautstaerkeregler als Drehknopf eine wirklich sehr praktische Sache, viel besser als eine Tastenkombination wo man eigentlich immer beide Haende braucht um die Lautstaerke zu aendern.Sehr praktische auch die freiliegenden Tasten da man schnell mal zwischendurch wischen kann mit q-tips oder auch die Tasten zur Not schnell ab bekommt wenns mal viel Dreck oder Fluessigkeit drauf gab.Die vollstaendig konfigurierbare Beleuchtung laesst natuerlich die ganze Sache auch richtig cool aussehen.Ich werd nur noch Corsair keyboards kaufen.

I am a fan of Corsair mechanical keyboards and specifically the K70 family. First why mechanical and the clickety-clack? They seem to be more about what typing is all about. I slipped into the workforce stream in the mid 70's. When the PC came about in the low to mid 80's all the keyboards were mechanical but were not that good. My first stellar mechanical keyboard was an IBM mechanical keyboard that you could split. I loved the action on that board but on bad advice I abandoned that board when the quieter membrane boards took over the market. I find a mechanical keyboard more comfortable to type, to be more accurate and more relaxing. However it takes time to find the one with the right switches. My first Corsair was a K70 with Cherry Red keys. The keys did not have a resistance point and the keys had good travel. My second had Cherry Brown keys that had the bump. I didn't like it as much and returned to the Cherry Red keys.I am now trying its newest board the Corsair K70 RGB Rapidfire. The advantage to this board is the short actuation to the other K70 Cherry alternatives. The board is still beautifully constructed of aluminum and has the very valuable USB passthrough which I have found to be invaluable. My typing is easy and accurate but there is a physical learning curve as my fingers adjust to the lesser effort it takes to make a keystroke. It takes some getting used to.For me the biggest difference is in the key labelling. The labels are wider and fill more of the key I assume to let more light through making your LED arrangement more dramatic. And for the most part the labels are good. However in this labelling for some reason the period, semi-colon, comma and quote keys are particularly hard to find when the LEDs are off as they take up so little of the key label. Even though you know where they are if you look at the dark board they are hard to find. A very minor complaint for a very good keyboard.Since this keyboard is RGB you can design your own lighting patterns or use one of the preset patterns. I had heard that the utility you install which controls the LED design is different takes some getting used to but I found it fairly straightforward and easy to use. And you can design as many configurations as you like. You also upgrade your keyboard through the utility which is more convenient and straightforward.Within the Corsair mechanical keyboard family there are several different flavours and you should really have some way of trying them before you buy because there are distinct differences between them. I particularly like the Cherry Red keys; The keys with no resistive actuation point. The Rapidfire keys offer the same mechanism but it seems to be a more mature implementation than the straight Cherry Red keys if that makes any sense.The K70 RGB Rapidfire is an excellent keyboard and I can recommend the purchase unreservedly.
