One Million Things: A Visual Encyclopedia

I felt so proud that I ordered a good book for my kids, that I asked my husband to take a long. An hour later I had to pry him away to go do bedtime with them. This is a great book that I can't stop putting down. My 4 year old isn't terribly interested in it, but I'm still working with her on it. I love the pictures in it. I love that there's just a short paragraph about each topic. I love how the different paragraphs are placed together on a page to illustrate how they might be related. I've learned a lot from this book and plan on keeping it around for quite a while.

My 3.5 year old son had loved this book for the last six months or so. It has the best pictures and information in it. After having it checked out from the library forever, we finally bought it. my son looks through it and asks questions everyday! We have started many different games, including pretending to be red blood cells. His knowledge of the human body came from his "million things book." I cannot recommend it enough. We take it on all trips and looooove it. Buy it today!

I love this book. I purchased if for my daughter for Christmas. She enjoys reading about all the different things that are in the book. It's a hodgepodge of so many different things. I find myself reading it just to see what I can learn. :) If you're looking for a structured encyclopedia, this is not for you. This is more of a picture-with-a-definition-of-each-thing-in-the-picture type of book, which is a great learning tool for young children. I would recommend this to people with young children.

After my son (5 years old) became fascinated with this book from the library, we decided to purchase our own copy. Although he is still a bit young to understand all of the text, he loves examining the colorful, assorted photos. I'd highly recommend this book to anyone whose child loves to discover new information about the world-- its graphics and easy to read information really supplement their curiosity and help spark conversations about a diverse range of topics: from human body to gems to animal life to flags of the world!

The 1st time I saw this item was at Borders, and it looked great. So I had been meaning to get it once I had money to spare, and it was cheaper to get from Amazon. However, I was rather disappointed when it arrived. The amazon version didn't have the glow/gloss of the Border's version. It just looked and smelt like an old fashion encyclopedia - it lacked the vibrance of the Border's version. Otherwise, it' essentially the same book. So I guess it makes alot of difference where the books get printed.Disappointed.

My young son got this book as a gift. He loves it! It's so full of different facts, well presented and easy to read. It keeps him entertained for hours learning different things. I'd recommend it for any naturally curious eager reader, or even for kids that are hesitant to read. There are plenty of pictures to draw interest.

If you love you child and want to stimulate their brain in a way that offsets the era of the Television and Game-systems I suggest this book and some quality family time. Be prepared to utilize google in order to maintain pace with the peak in your child's interest of things such as the solar system, eco system, history and geography to name a few. I would recommend this book to anyone, not just children, but adults to.

My 10 year-old daughter loved this book so much from the school library, she used her Christmas money to buy it for herself. It shipped very fast and was in new condition. However, when we received it, it had a price tag on it that said "$3.00," even though the seller charged us $11.98! And yes, we paid an additional $6.99 for shipping! What's up with that?

特大サイズですが、厚みは薄い。最新情報図鑑になっていて、購入したての頃は、あの商品がもう載っていると思わずうなった程。頁数の割りに大胆な構図で、写真を詰め込んだ頁と逆に写真が少ないけど大きくて大迫力の頁があり、ファッション雑誌的な美的感覚を感じる高級感あふれる図鑑。表紙から予想されるような単調なサムネイルの羅列を予想しているとビックリするよ。表紙が固くて厚みが有り、しかも凝っているので品質から予想される価格の1／５以下で超お買い得。編集者のユーモアにも拍手。楽しくて会話がはずむ図鑑ですよ。本棚に入らなくても厚みが意外と薄いから置き場所には困らないのも好印象。それを購入して気に入ったらOne Million Things シリーズを揃えるという楽しみ方もありますが、調べるための図鑑というより、見て楽しむことに徹している感じで、大人受けすると思います。単語で終わりでは無く、文章で解説もありますし。
