A lot of good recipes but also a lot we wouldn’t eat.
I like that it has a 14 day meal plan in the beginning. A lot of the recipes are Mediterranean and Greek dishes (which we don’t like) but a lot of other recipes have been good so far. It has everything from breakfast to dessert recipes. Not bad for the price.

Put down the salt shaker and pick up this book!!
Controlling your sodium intake can save your life, The Low Sodium Cookbook tells you how. However, it is not just a cookbook, but a step by step guide to a healthier way of living and eating. More than likely you have been diagnosed with high blood pressure or one of the many other diseases that high sodium intake can cause, such as chronic kidney disease, kidney stones, renal failure, heart and vascular problems, and even certain types of cancer. With this diagnosis, you are probably thinking that your life is over without the ability to enjoy delicious, great tasting foods, but this is so very wrong! There are some avoidance foods like cured meats and fish, but the rest is just tweaking your favorite recipes. This book teaches you many skills such as how to understand food labels while shopping to make better choices. Most Americans do not even know they have a problem with excess sodium until they go to a physician. We ingest more than twice the recommended sodium per day in our normal diets, without even realizing it. Although our bodies need sodium to function properly, there is a fine line between healthy and unhealthy. Most of the sodium in our diets comes from table salt, and salt is also used as a preservative in processed foods. Let's face it, salt makes food taste better! If you are accustomed to eating a lot of fast foods, dining out, and eating a lot of prepackaged or processed foods and meals, then The Low Sodium Diet may seem an overwhelmingly daunting task. As with any worthwhile endeavor, the extra effort opens up a world of new and exciting possibilities, great recipes that lead to a better, healthier life. Learning what foods are good for you, and how to prepare them with seasonings other than salt is definitely a benefit. The recipes are fresh and delicious, making the path to lowering your sodium intake that much easier. Here's to healthy living!

Healthy in the Simplest Form
I absolutely loved this book. Yes, it is non-fiction. There’s no action. No explosions. No mystery. It is full of information that matters. It is easy to think that low sodium diets are for the unhealthy, but no! This book lays out the argument as to why a healthy diet low in sodium is not just for those who have high blood pressure. It is for anyone who is at risk of developing high blood pressure, kidney problems, breathing issues and more. And what is more, many of those problems are caused by our daily sodium intake. It is not just for blood pressure but, also for lowering the risk of heart disease. To be honest, these were things that I already knew, so the selling point for me was in how a low sodium diet (suggested: 1,500mg) can aid in weight loss and weight control. It is important to know how your body works as one unit. Reducing calories can only do so much. Sodium, or salt, also plays a role. The author made it really simple to pick out the alternatives. Instead of “this” try “that”. The chart came in handy when trying to figure out an alternative meal. I tried the Cherry Almond Granola recipe and ate a bar for breakfast and another one for a snack. Granted, I made some changes but, the recipe was great!

Reducing sodium doesn't have to mean reducing flavor!!
I love my new, The Low Sodium Cookbook!I have already made the low sodium Cherry-Almond Granola and it was so yummy that I made an extra batch to take to work to share with my co-workers.All of the recipes are easy to follow and are not only low in sodium but are very healthy, low in calories.I had tried to eat less salt in the past but after a couple of weeks into my salt-free diet, my meals got really boring with the plain foods that I was cooking/eating. I then went to Amazon looking for a low sodium cookbook. When I stumbled upon, The Low Sodium Cookbook, I looked inside at the preview and was amazed at everything this book has to offer. When I received my cookbook I was blown away with the wide varieties of exciting recipes. This cookbook has recipes ranging from healthy low sodium breakfast meals to low sodium international dinners. This book helps to explain what sodium does to our bodies, the different ages and the amounts of sodium that are needed for that age group, and how sodium is hidden in our foods. There are charts showing how you can substitute healthy, low sodium foods in place of the salt-laden variety. This book is very informational and even has a 14 – day jump start diet plan to help you make that transition to a low sodium diet.

Low Sodium Diet: Where to Begin?
In the “The Low Sodium Cookbook”, the author spends the first chapters of the book describing the health reasons for cutting back on sodium in the diet. He explains how too much sodium can be harmful, especially for patients with high blood pressure and other ailments. He also explains that salt can be a precursor to other serious conditions which would benefit from lowering salt intake. The author also explains which foods are high in sodium and which foods are low in sodium and offers an alternative for their higher sodium counterparts. A lot of advice was given on how many milligrams of sodium go over the limit on a daily basis and ways to change the diet and reduce sodium intake. In the remaining chapters, the author gives a two-week diet plan using foods that are low in sodium, along with several recipes divided into categories such as breakfast, snacks, meals, vegetables, and desserts. The book is an easy read for someone who needs to lower their salt intake and doesn’t know where to start.

Not for a British audience.
Interesting information, though statistics given apply only in America. Some nice recipes but again, American ingredients and measurements. Would buy differently next time.
