So nice, I'm buying another!
This shave stand kit is actually a truly amazing value. Solid construction, classic design, optimal function and form. The stand is solid, doesn't wobble or rock and the shave brush and razor fit perfectly. The brush is, indeed, genuine badger hair, soft enough to produce exceptional lather and stiff enough to apply to face or scalp. (I'm fully bearded and use this kit to shave my substantial dome). The shave bowl dimensions are perfect for any puck style shave soap and it is heavy enough that you don't have to have it in a death grip to work up a lather. It fits into the stand with the same precision as the rest of the shave kit does, excellently. The razor, although high quality, is a standard three-piece and not my preference, luckily I have a short handled butterfly style razor that fits just as well as the one supplied (I intended on using my butterfly razor, anyway). There are some blades included, but I've had very bad luck with generic blades and so, haven't tried them, so I cannot comment on their quality. My son is 13 and just starting to need a shave and I'm buying him one of these great stand/brush/bowl kits for Christmas, because I cannot imagine a better product to serve this purpose exists. Besides, he should learn to shave with the best method available (neck in neck with straight razor shaving- but that's for when he's a little older and has a longer attention span!). He's got similar tastes and as discerning an eye as myself, so I suspect it's going to be a big hit!If you've grown tired of overpriced cartridge razors that tear your skin apart, I cannot recommend this shave kit highly enough to you!

Solid Shaving Stand
I have been using the Miusco shaving stand for almost a year now and am really happy with the product. It's solid and easy to clean. The bowl is not very large but it's enough for the way I use it. The handle of my shaving brush is a lot thicker than the holder so I had to adapt and place it so that the holder wraps around the base of the bristles.

Great Set - But you will upgrade the brush
For the price this is an excellent deal. The razor assembly and generic blades themselves are of great quality, easy to use and comparable to more expensive counterparts. The stand is nice and fits everything nicely. The only thing wrong with the set is the brush. It is of inferior quality. Most people won't care, especially if you're new to wet shaving but I couldn't do it any longer.Attached is a picture of my new German-made Nom brush (Theo, Ash Wood handle, Badger Hair) vs. the one included with the Miusco kit. After using the Miusco brush, you can tell a few things right away.1) The bristles are rough. They're not that soft. I don't know if that's indicative of real or fake badger fur, but it's not even close to the softness of my Nom Theo.2) The bristles cut length and arrangement. You can see it's not as "tight" of a cone. I'm not sure if that's a quality metric or not, but to me it indicates the density of hairs is not as high. So you get less "lift" as you lather your face. Not sure if this matters to you or not, but I believe this makes the Nom superior construction.3) The handle is cheap plastic. Luckily my Ash wood Nom fits fine in the included holder. In the end, a great deal even though I'm only keeping the razor and stand. I would have loved if they improved the brush quality and increased the price point. Having a finished product that wouldn't require additional investment would have been ideal.

Overall Pretty Good
Only some minor things. Like the choice of felt for the bottom. It got just a wee bit damp and it just started to dissolve away, leaving black smudges everywhere. Wiped the rest of it off and put little rubber feet on it instead. Bowl is a bit shallow. If you shave with puck soap you may find the lack of room disappointing. I picked up a proper scuttle and will use the supplied one as a drip cup/brush scuttle. I'm sure it's generally fine if you're just shaving your face, but I'm doing a 3 pass shave on my head, so no way I could whip up enough lather in this bowl. The razor isn't a butterfly design, so it actually sits precariously in the stand due to the round screws on the bottom. stand fits my Gillette well enough. Overall I'm very pleased with the design of the stand. Especially how the bowl sits nicely under the brush. No complaints on the brush. As long as it holds up in the long term and the stand doesn't start to rust it'll hold 4 stars from me.

Has some drawbacks
Purchased this to hold my safety razor and shaving soap. First off, the cup that holds the soap is pretty small and shallow. The soap tablet I use is too big to fit in the cup, so I'm forced to cut the soap in half to fit inside. Could be the soap that I'm buying is oversized, but by cutting in half it fits. The holder that secures my brush fits very well, but the part that holds the shaver doesn't secure it well (Van Der Hagen). It may be this unit is designed for a specific razor, as mine falls out of the holder really easy if jostled or bumped. Overall construction seems robust though, and looks like it will hold up. I retrofitted the shaver holder with a rubber O-Ring that I super glued on to the stand. Now it holds the razor securely. It looks good in my bathroom, however, if I find something with a larger cup and a better razor holder I'd probably purchase that instead.

Fit Viking Emperor razor handle and Parker brush!
The Viking Blades’ Emperor razor has a thick handle that doesn’t fit in other stands. My Parker shaving brush, incredibly, also doesn’t fit in other stands because it is too thick. When buying the razor handle and brush I didn’t realize they were, y’know, husky. I don’t have others to compare with. Both fit well in this stand. I have a different bowl I use for lathering the soap. This one is on the small side, imho. Works nicely as a drip tray while the brush is drying.

Time to Throw Away Multi-Blade Systems
So before I go into details, let me discuss my facial geography. I have a dimple in my chin, a little cleft as well in the chin and a mole on my neck and cheek. So yes, I had visions of this razor leading to massive blood letting in the bathroom but I was very wrong. The kit looks stylish in the bathroom and shaving has moved from being a chore to that of an enjoyable activity. The brush lathers quickly and easily, the soap is easy to lather and has a neutral smell. The razor itself has a nice weight and glides through my tough beard hairs easily. In fact I have closer shaves now than I have ever had with the normal razor systems and in over 9 months of use, I think I have nicked myself two or three times. Counter that with my usual multi-blade system where I had far more nicks.I ordered a separate 100-blade pack and my blades now cost around 6p each!! and will last up to 5 shaves. From a comfort, closeness of shave and economy standpoint, you can't beat this plus shaving becomes enjoyable.

Sturdy little stand
I was looking for a sturdy stand to hold my Merkur 34C razor and shaving brush. This little set fits the bill. The razor fits nicely on one side, and the shaving brush slides in on the other. You probably don't want a knot size more than 24mm, as even that can catch some hairs on the brush as it is slid into the holder. For reference, my shaving brush is on the larger side with a 50mm loft, 50mm handle, 35mm handle width and 24mm knot. The lathering bowl is smallish (about the same diameter as a coffee cup) but big enough to build up a lather, albeit with some inevitable sloshing over the side.Overall I'm satisfied. The construction of the set and bowl doesn't feel flimsy or cheap, neither have exhibited any rust and looks good.
