Difficult, but might be worth it.
So I was getting ready to make this a 1 or 2 star review since I could not get it to work correctly. These types of gimbals have always been sketchy for me. I have another EVO gimbal for a gopro that generally works great, except for the one shot/trip I bought it for, where it didn't work at all. So it was with a lot of reservations that I ordered this one. Hopefully what I learned here will help someone. For reference, I am a Samsung S9 phone (android) and Windows user. The experience might be different if you are using something else. The 2 biggest problems I had with it is even after hours of trying to get it to work none of the EVO phone apps worked (which means the buttons on the device didn't work either), and I could not get it to calibrate/balance with my phone. This meant that the videos were slightly leaning to the left. There is very little in the way of documentation, and the user manual is very light IMO. I sent an email to their support, and heard back that their app is very buggy, and they recommended that I use another company's app (ZY Play in the google Play store). After I downloaded that, I was able to connect to the phone just fine, and all the controls seem to be working now.I also downloaded the EVO Gimbals calibration tool from their website. With much poking around, and trial and error, I finally found a place where I could adjust the "roll", which is the left- right tilt of the phone. BTW - I had already adjusted the manual controls as far as they would go to correct the tilt.In the calibration tool, open the connection to the gimbal in the software (using the included USB cable), then go to:Settings tab > Trim Level button > Rollyou can adjust the roll up or down from 0.00 to level the camera. Then hit Close and Save. The best setting for mine seemed to be -2.75 on the roll.I couldn't find this info anywhere on their site or in documentation, it was all trial and error. Now it appears to be working well and level. I have not used it enough yet to review it on the other features. I think 4* is generous for now, but it does appear to be working as it should. I can't give it 5*, especially since it was built for my phone, and I had jump through quite a few hoops to get it to work.Hopefully this will save someone else some time.

Re-brand of the Zhiyun Smooth 4
The EVO Pro is the exact same hardware as the Smooth 4 from Zhiyun (which as of this review, is around $40 cheaper and Zhiyun also throws in a microfiber cleaning cloth). The extra you are paying for the EVO Pro is the USA warranty, service, and support (Zhiyun, you may need to deal with some minor language barriers when dealing with their primarily Chinese service representatives). This is mainly why I decided to pay more for the EVO Pro even though I knew about these caveats (including the ones below). The hardware itself is very nice but really is dependent on the phone app to get the most out of the control panel on the unit. This is where EVO's app EVO Remote on both iOS and Android is a total piece of garbage (it hasn't been updated for over 2 years as of this review; you can read the feedback and complaints about issues on the App Store and Google Play). So I dinged the "Stability" and "Overall" rating to 3 stars since the hardware control features are pretty much useless if trying to use EVO Gimbals own branded application (on newer versions of iOS) with the EVO Pro.This is why they have ZY Play (developed by the original hardware designers; Zhiyun) listed as a recommended app (full features support) and why it works fairly well with it. ZY Play is also periodically updated (latest is 2.6.9 and released in early July 2019). Even EVO's customer support has had to resort to telling their customers to install it over their own branded app. While the EVO Pro and the Smooth 4 are advertised as FiLMiC PRO compatible, there is a caveat noted in the quick start guide that "some features" are supported (I didn't buy this for that particular capability so I can't say what limitations exist). Since FiLMiC Pro is around $15 on either platform, I would contact FiLMiC to find out what the limitations are.Once you have your phone stabilized with the unit and ZY Play working, the EVO Pro (or Smooth 4) is really great in terms of its operation and the videos/panoramas you can capture. I'm using an iPhone XR inside of a Spigen Tough Armor case; the case itself doesn't fit firmly inside the phone clamps channel (the XR without the case does) but the outer edge (of the clamp) does close around the chamfered rubberized edge of the case where it keeps it firmly in place (I didn't want to keep having to remove the iPhone from its case). If it weren't for the fact that I really like the design of this particular gimbal unit, I would've bought something from another company where they did a better job on their own software integration. If EVO Gimbal actually revises and updates their EVO Remote App and it worked as well as ZY Play (highly unlikely this will ever happen), I would revise this review and also be able to easily recommend this. Instead, I've been telling people to just save their money and get the Zhiyun Smooth 4 if they don't care about any potential support issues.

Great features for the price but had to use this party app for full functionality.
This is my first gimbal and in that regard I love it. It functions well and has numerous features that make filming with my Google Pixel XL look like pro shot footage. My only complaint is that the EVO gimbal app doesn't not work and I was forced to use a third party app for full functionality.

Could be better.
I was disappointed that the Gimbal doesn’t function with Filmic Pro. I had to use an application called”ZY Play” which works pretty well, but, I wanted to use Filmic Pro.I had to research and figure it out on my own. I wasn’t happy about that, because I believe this information should have been more forthcoming in the documentation provided by the company, and, seller (Amazon).

Perfect
The media could not be loaded. I took this on our two week New England trip and it was awesome. The video you see here was taken on a whale watch tour out on Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary. You can see the boat was rocking and moving up and down, yet the camera was as steady as it could be. Highly recommended.

Great gimbal for cell phone usage
This is a great way to make cell phone video more stable. With the app, the focus wheel is controllable from the gimbal too, which is a nice feature. I wish it had a joystick and was programmable like my Ronin-S, but it's also 1/6th the cost.

Smooth videos for very little money
This technology is incredible. I'm ready for broadcast quality productions.I need to learn how to use the apps for editing. The stabilization and automatic following is so cool.

Great Gimbal even y though it's not what it seems
So this is branded as an Evo pro.. well it's not. It's a zyuhni smooth 4 and the compaion app is garbage. With that said.... The actual gimbal is great!
