Harman Kardon Allure Voice-Activated Home Speaker with Alexa, Black

I bought this back in 2018, was really impressed with the quality of sound and reach. HOWEVER IT IS 2023 and I hope someone at harmon kardon reads this - unfortunately my husband left the speaker outside on the patio over night - down pouring storm and rain all night: worst of the year. When I realized it had been outside through it all I truly thought it was done for. Plugged it in out of desperation and sheer hope. It turned on, sounding just as good as it did when I first got it - months later still working like a champ and if it were ever to quit I would know most likely it was due to the incident and would buy another. The design though really saved it. Not saying this was waterproof, don't forget it outside lol I just highly recommend this brand and type.

The speaker sound is a five!! But it does get frustrating that it does not speak or communicate at times with the Echo dot. I love pairing it to my phone for music, so have to keep it, and hold out for an update that will be a fix or solution. Right now we are using the two items separately. If you are looking for a smooth working relationship do not buy this speaker. If you want quality music, it is an affordable sound improvement to the echo dot.

It works as intended. Has good sound and since i don't have any other devices I don't have the issues others are complaining about not playing well with other devices. Over all I'm really happy I bought it when it was on sale for $150.00. If you have other devices this one may not be the best fit for you. If this is your only device it works great.

Love this little speaker. Sometimes when waking alexa it lags but other than that its awesome

When it arrived, I just turned it on and paired it with a device, it worked for 5 mins and then died... the speaker doesn’t emit any sound, just remains silent all the time. Of course I’ve tried many options to make it work, like hard reset, set up with HK Alexa app, pair manually with a bluetooth device, but none worked. I reviewed the box and noticed it that this item was not new, so I received an used and defective device.- Sound quality: during the 5 mins that it worked, I noticed the speaker lacks the mid and high range sounds, but has a good bass.- Is friendly? Has a quick start guide, but lacks an user manual, the app fails constantly and the touch buttons just don’t respond- Value / benefit: don’t waste your money, go and get a different option like Sonos- Design: beautiful and unique design that would worth it if it could emit any sound

Got this speaker because I want a better sounding speaker that also has echo like features. Debated between this one and Sonos and decided to purchase the Harman one due to the Harman quality.This speaker sounds awesome with pretty deep bass, and it supports Spotify as well which is a big plus as well. This is now my go to speaker at home and I love it.

I was so excited to get this speaker. It's an HK and it features Alexa? Wow!! … But no. Bust!I've never owned a Harman Karden speaker before, but I've heard several of them. They are well-regarded in the audio industry; the sound is fabulous, and almost comparable to Bose.but this speaker sounds mediocre at best. It sound's tinny, has very little base for it's weight and size, and it's just not very precise. for the price and considering the brand, I expected a lot more.I ended up selling it to someone who didn't mind the bad sound, apparently.Harman Karden, you are risking your rep with this one. the only plus on this is the fact that Alexa is very responsive on there.

Finally, an Alexa-enabled device that plays music with a decent amount of fidelity. It’s bigger than an Echo but still looks good on my nightstand. The lighted cylinder inside serves no real purpose other than a cool factor but Alexa works, picks up on my voice even when music is playing loudly, and setup took less than 3 minutes. I would give it five stars (it sounds that good) except it doesnt have “full” Alexa capabilities that even a Dot has. For instance, you can’t set up the “Drop-In” feature to use it as an intercom from other Alexa devices in the house. I’m hoping that functionality comes with a future firmware update or an update to the Alexa app on my iPhone. If so, this review will be updated to five stars. If you want to play music, get this one.

La configuración es un poco más complicada que lo habitual por los pasos que se deben seguir, a un usuario sin tanto apego a la tecnología podría complicarse un poco. No tiene ecualizador. El volumen manual es algo confuso.Pros. El sonido es espectacular, muy fuerte y sin distorsión, el grave es potente, en un lugar no muy firme hará vibrar de más la madera o el mueble. Los agudos y medios muy bien equilibrados, no hay distorsión distinguible al máximo volumen. Alexa está a nada de ser el mejor asistente, es casi incomprensible que casi a todo tiene respuesta.A favor y en contra, la alta sensibilidad de los micrófonos, oye tan bien, que al estar viendo la tv y que en ella se mencione su nombre, va a contestar..Es un gran equipo, lo he recomendado a muchos de mis contactos, así como en esta breve reseña.

I love this speaker. Its perfect and I have also sent one to a friend as a gift we both love it. Huge sound excellent base crystal clear music. Sets up in minutes and Alexa is saying hello. No issues at all quality is excellent I would give it 10 stars!

I liked the product overall

Si tomamos en cuenta que la bocina se vende como es, una bocina bluetooth, cumple. Sin embargo y tomando en cuenta el resto de comentarios del producto, puedo confirmar que definitivamente hay un problema en el funcionamiento con Alexa de manera nativa en la bocina. Llega a funcionar si utilizan la aplicación móvil de Alexa y detecta el dispositivo, pero si no al momento de decir un comando fuera de la aplicación solo se escucha un pitido pero no responde. Algunas ocasiones o la mayoría de ellas pierde conexión con internet y es ahí cuando Alexa no funciona, la configuración puede ser tediosa en ese aspecto, porque toca volver a conectar al WiFi una y otra vez, tienes que escribir manualmente la red (no la detecta automáticamente o te da una lista para elegir), colocar la contraseña y listo, honestamente he perdido la cuenta de cuántas veces lo he hecho.Concluyendo, si lo que buscas es una buena calidad de sonido, buen volumen y a mi parecer suficiente peso en los graves para no distorsionar cualquier canción, es la bocina que buscas. Si solo quieres una bocina inteligente, aquí no es, vas a lidiar mucho para su configuración y te vas a desesperar.

Alexa function works fine for me. HK Allure is a perfect combo with Spotify. Sound quality and build quality are superb. One of the best $99 I' ve ever spent.
