I'm a beginner. Pros: They rewet and activate very well and the colors will lift from the paper very well. I like that they are in individual half pans. This is an absolute must for me. I like to rearrange and sort my colors. I moved 15 colors into a different palette box and attached magnets to the bottoms of the half pans. When I paint something I like to separate out and line up the colors that I am using. I do like that the box lists pigment information. And there are color names printed on each half pan. The mixing areas on the included palette are sufficient but I do have additional ceramic mixing palettes that I use.Cons: The palette is awkward to open. Some of the pigments are more opaque than I expect. It's hard to thin them out to be transparent. The names marked on the half pans are marked very small and difficult to read so I have marked the half pans again with sharpie.I think this set is a good starting place for me. At the time I purchased these I think they were a little bit expensive. This is a Chinese-made student set. Overall I am pretty happy with it.

This is a great set for a beginner. Almost all the pans are labeled with the color for easy tracking and replacement. The lid is hard to open and I even had to look it up online to see if I was missing something. One color pan wasn't labeled. I like how easy it is to use pans as a beginner and this is a good choice since it has all the standard colors.

There’s so much choice that I end up mixing colors just to see what happens, resulting in "swamp green" and "sad purple." But hey, art is about the journey, right?This set also has the added bonus of making me feel like a tortured artist. At one point, I stared at my half-finished sunset, sighed deeply, and said, “It’s not quite right,” just for dramatic effect.If you're looking for a paint set that makes you feel like a creative genius while still letting you blame the brush for mistakes, this is it.
