Curiositree: Human World: A visual history of humankind

I got this book for my 9 year old son who really loves to read and learn about everything. This book has wonderful illustrations of different types of different things. For example, there is a page with lots of different types of boats from different cultures and time periods, and another page with different types of money. It's a wonderful way to learn history and also about different cultures all at the same time. I'd also like to note that, while the book does lean towards western civilization, it does include some non-western cultures as well, which I appreciate (and is one reason that I bought this book). I highly recommend this book for any child who is curious about the world and would like to know more.

"Curiositree: Human World" is a great book to introduce young readers about the revolution of human, from the ancient time to now. From the point of view of science and evolution, cultural, civilizations and inventions, this compact reference provides succinct explanations to readers about the history of human. For adults who grew up hating history and probably have forgotten most of the stuff they have learned in school, "Curiositree: Human World" would be a great choice for a quick review.The design of the book is in chart form hence readers could pick whatever topics interested them without feeling pressure to start reading from the beginning. Colorful graphics and rich text make this reference book a must-have. The amount of information could be too overwhelming for younger readers so I would say it's for middle school kids who enjoy history.The author definitely did an amazing job to put together thousand years of human history across different cultures together. It's a book full of useful information that resembles an encyclopedia about human history but not as dry as reading one. Academic, yes, but not as heavy and dull. "Curiositree: Human World" is definitely a quality book for curious young minds.

A very interesting and informative book about human history. Beautiful, bright and colorful, this book is filled with bits of information from migrations and inventions, culture and religion, to war and modern technology, this book has it all. I love the use of artwork, timelines and charts to visually explain the concepts. 'Curiositree: Human World: A visual history of Mankind by A.J. Wood and Mike Jolley with illustrations by Andres Lozano is a nonfiction book with a unique approach to learning.The history of humans is told over 60 charts with titles like Human Beginnings and A Brief History of Jewelry. The information on each chart gives a lot of information and is threaded by color codes on the sides of the pages. These allow the reader to follow different chronologies, like technology or farming.I had a nice time poring through this book. There is an incredible amount of information scattered over these 100 plus pages. This title for elementary school kids hopes to arouse their curiosity for our world in all of its interesting complexity. It consists of a series of charts and maps on topics as diverse as farming, armor, cities, and technology to name just a few.
