Hela Curry Gewurz Ketchup Mild (400 ml/465g)

The previous reviewer, JB mentioned that he/she ordered this product, waited for 4 weeks and ended up having to cancel the order because it never came. They also mentioned that the product was overpriced and that they found it elsewhere locally for "less than 5 dollars." I'm wondering if this reviewer didn't actually order from a different dealer and get mixed up and give their review to Taste of Europe?MY experience was totally different. The bottle was $5.25 which was cheaper than any other dealer on Amazon, and it came exactly when it was supposed to come. I ordered it March 3rd, it was sent to be shipped March 4th and arrived March 12th because I didn't pick the fastest shipping option.As far as the product itself (which is really what's supposed to be reviewed in this space anyway)Hela's Curry Ketchup is really amazing. Its not like a regular tomato ketchup. Its darker, sweeter and has some special spices in it. Its hard to describe but its delicious!

If you are really lucky and have a real German/Austrian/Swiss butcher around that sells Rote/Knacker do yourself a favor.Make french fries, roast the sausage, smack Hela on top....sprinkle some curry powder on top of everything and go to heaven.I understand that the sweetness of this Ketchup is not everyones taste, I fully understand, but if you are like us you are going to love the taste.......If you are picky, the McD Barbecue sauce has a little resemblance to this, a little....in consistency as well as in taste.if you like a kick to your condiments, the same sauce is available in spicy (scharf).Just to make you aware how much Germans like the stuff, it is available in 4 Gallon bins...... :-)Enjoy!

First I want to say that we absolutely love this product. We found this in Germany and fell in love with it. So we were pleasantly surprised to find it on Amazon. However, we ordered it and it never came . I also found that this product is definitely over priced. We ended up cancelling our order because it never came according to the time that was promised. I was actually very patient and waited for a good 4 weeks and it still didn't come. I tried to contact the seller through amazon, but never even got a response. So after cancelling, I found a nearby German deli and it was less than $5. Don't waste your time in ordering this.

I ordered this and other catsups just to taste what they use in other countries. This catsup reminds me of the catsup from the Phillipines made out of bananas; pretty sweet, but does not have the curry flavor though. Although I am sure this is a fine product for those who are from the countries that normally use it and grew up with it, but it is a little funky for American tastes. Besides the extra sweetness, it has a less viscous more syrupy consistency. And I thought I would like the curry flavor, but it somehow confuses my taste buds that are expecting Hunts, Heinz, or Del Monte.Get it to try it and make your own decision. But for my tastes I will be putting some good ole Heinz on my fries.

This is exactly the stuff I missed from back when I still lived in The Netherlands. Not the hot version but this one's the one they use in snackbars and the like.I had to pay a bit over $10 from the seller I bought it from which is pretty pricey but it's an imported product and I haven't been able to find it anywhere near me so I think it's worth the splurge every once in a while. Having family ship some would've cost more so I'm very happy with the purchase. Already used it in deviled eggs like I used to and they were awesome!Now to find a good recipe for Frikandellen. ;)

I grew up in Germany and when I moved to the US I missed curry ketchup. I was so excited that I found this on Amazon! Definitely took me back in time when I received it. Tastes just like Germany!

My family is from the northern region of Germany so I was not aware of this product until I heard about it on a cooking show. Another condiment other than mustard to change up a flavor of a wurst! Nice taste though I think I can make a fresh version of my own now that I know what it taste like. For another spin on southern German wursten on a bun (weisswurst or knockwurst), this is a thumbs up especially with Oktoberfest just around the corner. The product is as described by the seller and arrived in the time promised.

And nothing like a good old "Currywurst, Pommes, Schranke" (Grilled German sausage with this ketchup on top, french fries with regular ketchup and mayo as side). I make the sausages myself with my Kitchen Aid and the fries with my french fry cutter, but I cannot get behind the secret of Hela Curry Gewürz Ketchup. Maybe one day I will get the composition together. Until then I pay prices that could be called highway robbery and don't even feel bad about it. I don't miss much about Germany. This I do miss.
