What a great quality and materials. Every piece in the box is marked with a unique number or letter to identify against the instructions. All hardware are individually grouped and bagged with letter designators that make the assembly go smoothly. I consider the quality of this product on par with some higher end furniture manufacturers. Just impressed with the quality of the hardwood, the finish, how tight the pieces fit into each other and basically a 10/10 for me. the instructions ( assembly diagrams ) were great and provided enough detail ( at least for me) to get the assembly done with no issues. Make sure you look at the details of the pieces to know exactly how to place them next to each other. Orientation can be uniquely identified if you look at the details in each piece on the diagram ( hole distances , the way the item is facing, etc) I chose to put some wood glue to permanent joints ( from past experience it helps a lot with stability of wood structures and taking away any future squeaks or looseness ) but definitely not necessary at all for this assembly. It comes with the tools you need ( two screw drivers and an Allen key) but I used my own tools and also a power screw driver to speed things up. Some pointers : Try and not use a power screw driver - it is really not needed - but if you are using it like I did to speed things up, make sure the torque level is at the minimum and do tightening of screws by hand at the end to avoid over screwing and ruining the wood hole. The metal screws with plastic knobs used for adjustment have a rectangular base on the metal end. As you put the knob on and tighten the knobs the square part of the screw base will embed themselves into the wood so they end up sitting flat next to the surface. On the same screw and knobs assembly, remember the washer always goes with the knob. If you have some wood glue ( or get one , they are cheap), use some wood glue ( I put it on the mating surfaces using a q-tip ) and then use the screw and bolts to tighten the piece together. The wood glue will help with future wobbliness or squeaky joints. I don’t expect this one to experience any of that but I always use wood glue so did so here too. I will gladly buy more products from this manufacturer. Awesome experience so far.

I was hesitant to pull the trigger based on the high (but not *that* high) price relative to others in the category, but this easel is genuinely excellent, in fact surprisingly so. It's HEAVY and extremely solid. The wood is nicely finished, dense, and feels very substantial. The whole device is simple to operate but cleverly designed. It was well-packaged and the wood pieces are wrapped to prevent scratches. Assembly was straightforward and the manual is well thought-out: each wood piece has a number sticker and each metal assembly piece group comes in a lettered bag that corresponds to a step in the manual. It was very simple, just a tip would be to pay careful attention because it doesn't prompt you to flip pieces before certain steps in the way Ikea does. Just look closely to make sure your orientation matches the manual (hole and screw positions included) and you'll be gucci. The wheels are a soft rubberized material and they come on heavy mounts with visible ball bearings, which will be easy to re-lubricate later on. The movement from upright to flat is fluid and easy to do, and it's easy to adjust along the way. Even with the 5'x7' canvas I immediately loaded in, it's easy to maneuver and manipulate the various adjustments. Honestly I think this thing will easily last a lifetime; it's well-designed, well-made, and worth every cent.

It Weighs 44 Pounds, so make sure you have someone to help lift it when delivered! It is a long heavy box. I assembled this by myself and only needed help holding the frame until I got the knobs in so it didn't swing and hit me in the head. I labeled the bags with the numbers of the parts inside them and put them in order of each step of the instructions. I kept the bolts and screws in their labeled bags. Doing this ensured my success with assembly. I loved that the instructions did not have a bunch of verbage and it was clearly pictured in red the parts to be assembled and which screws and bolts to be used in each step. Pay close attention to the direction of each part, whether they face inward or outwards or where the holes are located closer to one side or the other. It will all make sense when you are assembling the easel. I caught myself a couple of times doing that incorrectly before moving to the next step. Take Your Time. I love that the wheels are a rubber silicone style and are easy on my Saltillo tile floors. This easel is sturdy and I love the adjustability of it laying flat or vertical. It lays solid as a table when horizontal. I paint in oils, acrylic and watercolor. I also do some collage work so this easel is just what I needed. I also love that it has a storage bin to hold mediums that I am using. I put the mediums in small jars so the big containers aren't exposed to air and drying out. When you raise the storage bin it also raises the mast, so watch out for your ceiling. I am fortunate that I have tall ceilings, but I do have ceiling fans to watch out for. I really love this easel/work station, it is a game changer for me.

I can’t say enough about Meeden’s great easels and superb customer service. Their easels are first rate being sturdy, well designed and manufactured for easy assembly. They adjust with ease allowing quick repositioning as needed. I find them very durable and hold up for years through daily use and studio moves. Not to mention a great value for your money. Customer service is the best. When there was a mixup on my last easel purchase they quickly fixed the problem and got me the correct easel in record time.

This could easily be a 5-star easel but...there are a few issues. The easel is actually a really good easel, and I am glad I got it but I was disappointed with the process. It is very sturdy and was pretty easy to put together, but the shipping/packaging needs some work. No, the shipping and packaging needs a ton of work. The box came damaged with a gaping hole in the side. This could be a UPS issue though so I'm not putting that one on Meeden. The packaging however, was 100% Meeden. I opened the damaged box only to find that several pieces were not even wrapped in bubble wrap and that the pieces looked like they were just thrown in the box. At the very least, the pieces should have been wire tied or strapped together to prevent movement during shipping, but there was nothing of the sort so I ended up with a few parts that were dinged, nothing major but still should never have been like that. Trying not to make a big deal out of it, but when you pay this much for an easel it should be in perfect condition and the packaging should certainly be better than what I received. After a call to Amazon, they offered to have UPS pick it up for free. To the credit of Amazon, the customer rep did try to help out the best they could, but a replacement would take an extended period of time so I decided to give this one a try and put it together anyway. If it didn't work out, I still had the option of the return process, so that was a plus. Putting it together was pretty easy. However, I came across three issues. I was putting a caster on one of the legs, the top of the screw sheared off so only three screws are holding the caster on. The three seem secure so no biggie there. Wouldn't you know it, the same thing happened on the very last caster on the second leg. The head sheared off one of the screws and now there is a caster on each leg with only three screws holding them on. The casters seemed secure but that should never have happened. I think I just got two wonky screws, but I haven’t had any problems with the casters so far. The center long support rail that attaches to the canvas support shelf (the canvas support that has brush storage)- the 4 predrilled screw holes that attach the rail were too large and the screws just slipped out and could not be tightened. Bad manufacturing there but again no biggie. I ended up using four small pocket hole screws slightly larger than the one provided to attach it, made sure they were flat so it could still move up and down and it ended up being super secure. Just glad I have an assortment of hardware like that in my garage. I contacted the company through their website (didn't see any way to contact the company through Amazon's website) and asked for replacement parts for the legs where the caster screws sheared off. They emailed me back rather quickly and asked for photos. I sent them but haven't heard anything yet. I know stuff like this happens and I could have sent the whole thing back, but I honestly really like my easel and the return process is a pain, especially having to repackage such a damaged box. Overall, the easel is actually a really good easel aside from the issues I pointed out. Packaging on my easel was horrid, but you may not experience the same. Just know you can return it. Be very careful with the screws on the casters when you install them. The assembly is pretty simple, just lay the parts out along with the screws/hardware and just follow the picture directions. Just a few other things to consider: This easel is very tall, even at the lowest setting. It is very substantial, meaning it really isn't cheaply made and the wood is heavy. Although not oak, it certainly feels similar in strength. The knobs work great, tighten everything down and it won't move at all. I was worried about canvas wobble, but this is really secure and I haven’t had any canvas wobble or easel wobble at all. You can make it lay flat (horizontal), which turns it into a sort of table for a canvas. I thought that was a pretty interesting and neat feature. Not sure I'd use that much but it is still pretty cool. If you are doing some sort of pouring technique this would be a very useful feature. It might also be a good feature for priming a canvas. This easel looks fantastic, and I would love to give it a 5 star, but the packaging and delivery just ruined the experience. I can even overlook the caster issue but just can't overlook the packaging and delivery issues. Final thoughts: I would certainly buy this easel again and I know my easel will last a very long time. It looks fantastic and makes my home studio complete.

My husband has done a lot of woodworking and he was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the easel. Everything fit together perfectly and It is a wonderful addition to my art room. I previously had a collapsible metal easel, but anytime I would put a large painting on it. It would shake while I was painting. At times the brace that holds the canvas would fall off . Not a great thing when you’re in the middle of painting. Don’t hesitate buying it. It’s a great piece and sturdy.

Great heavy duty easel. However it came with the 4 cheapest plastic wheels I’ve ever seen … upgrade those to match the product build and you have a winner. (Also no “locks” on the actual wheels - thought there would be - a little disappointed in that).

Lovely, when its up correctly. Firstly, when I started building it, I had some issues with the screw holes for the feet wheels, the screw holrs were like pin holes and not deep enough or wide enough to fit the screws supplied in the instructions for the wheels. The screws for the feet were also much too wide for the holes. Thankfully, my next door neighbour borrowed me his electric hand drill, which worked a treat, bu I'd already damaged my hands by that point, trying to get the screws in. Instructions, when it came to putting the frame to the legs was just a picture and quite vague. The tray ended up being too high, so I had to disassemble and re build the frame. There are grooves which allows the tray to slide up and down, make sure the side grooves are the correct way around, before putting the frame into the legs. I had the side poles upside down, which meant the grooves for the tray were upside down. The instructions and parts are clearly all marked with letters and numbers, despite the picture instructions being vague, it helped a lot. Just make sure the side grooves, on part 10 and 11, for the tray, are the correct way up!! The grooves should be open at the bottom, like on my photo. When it is up, finally! Its sturdy and I love it. All parts were there, undamaged and its sturdy, it doesnt move when a canvas is tightened on it. Overall, its a great quality product and now its up, I'm very happy with it. An excellent edition to my art studio.
