I bought this for my desk at work. The version I received had the brown cloth cord with the dimmer switch. Everything works as expected. The fixture itself is made of iron and is incredibly sturdy. The dimmer switch is made of plastic but the action feels very smooth and the physical click you hear and feel is very solid. I put a 40 watt bulb in to test the dimmer and it works fine, but the filament didn't start glowing until about halfway. The twisted cloth cord gives the whole fixture a more authentic look while being long enough to not need an extension cord. The bottom has a plastic insert where the socket was installed that is hidden when the fixture is upright.All in all I am very happy with the purchase and will more than likely be buying a few more in different styles for around the house.

This works perfect for my table. Love the retro look. This has the brown cloth cord that makes it more vintage looking. Otherwise it works and looks great!
