Solid Enterprise AP System at Reasonable Price
I have had 3 Unifi UAP-Pro APs operational since January 1, 2014 and they are working great! I upgraded each AP firmware once and that was a vey simple process using the Controller. The Unifi Controller software was easy to install and makes monitoring of the wireless network clean and professional. Once the APs were deployed, I could turn off the Controller, but I like checking usage of the network occasionally. Our building is 36,000 sq ft, on one floor with a couple of interior walls and the 3 UAP-Pros cover it completely. Installed each of the AP on ceiling tiles, using the mounting ring included in the package. Each AP is connected to our standard 1gig POE switch via cat 5e cable.I wanted to broadcast the same SSID on all APs, so users could roam around the office without losing their wireless connection. This feature works great! Hand-offs between APs are quick and trouble free. The hand-off seems to occur at the optimal point - if I stand holding my laptop under an AP and walk toward another AP, the hand-off occurs right as I pass the mid-point between the two APs.I initially had some trouble when wireless users tried to print to our HP 8600 Pro Plus printers (each printer was connected to the wired network and had a static IP address). It would work for about 20 minutes then the user would get a message saying the connection to the printer was lost. I contacted Ubiquiti UniFi support. They responded very quickly, were knowledgeable and interested in helping me - they even checked back after they had not heard from me for a couple of days. In the end the problem was caused by me, not the hardware. I had tried to be "tricky" and gave the new UniFi Pros the same SSID as my existing wireless AP. I would turn off the old AP, turn on the new to test the new network, thinking the change would be "transparent" to users. Ubiquiti suggested I use a different SSID and once I did that everything worked great. Thinking back, I think each laptop had configured an adapter setting based on the old AP and when it tried using those configuration with the new AP the setting were not correct.I like the 1 gig backhaul of the UAP-Pros since we have 1 gig data switches and 1 gig wired network. In the future I plan to a Radius server and/or connection to Active Directory, which the UAP-Pro supports. I see this as a product we can grow with over time.

Easy to configure, fast speeds and works great with Google Fiber Network Box
As a tech savvy, but non-technically trained individual - this WAP was extremely easy to configure and provides exceptional wireless range and speed. As I do not currently own an devices which support AC wireless, I saved the $ by not purchasing the AC version of this product. However I paid more Pro version over the lower priced Ubiquiti access points to gain 5 ghz frequency.Pros:-Easy installation. The Power Over Ethernet (POE) only requires a network cable to be ran to desired location from your router / switch. The device comes with the POE injector so I did not need to purchase a separate product or upgrade my network switch to use the POE capabilities.-As an access point (not a wireless router) it did not require any additional configuration to work correctly with my Google Fiber network box (router). I did turn off the wireless from my Google Network box as the Ubiquiti AP was purchased to provide stronger signal strength to the main part of my house.-Fast Speeds: While not an AC band access point, I still routinely obtain 100-150 mps internet speeds through this router (Google Fiber 1 Gig bandwidth to house).-Strong Signal / Long Range: This device is located on the upstairs floor in a central hallway on the wall and I receive full signal strength "bars" on my phones and laptops in any room or in the basement of my house.-Attractive Design: On the wall with network cable fished into wall cavity, this device does not stand out and looks like a smoke detector.-Reasonable priced: This WAP is priced competitive to most consumer grade wireless routers that are not designed to be permanently mounted and which do not provide as strong a signal.-LED indicator indicates device status. This is very bright in a dark room but can be turned off from the configuration softwareCons (had to think hard to come up with any):-LED can only be turned on or off. I would like it to not be on unless there was an issue, then I would desire it to flash / glow red. Showing the green status obviously indicates it has power and is transmitting, but the LED ring is brighter than the brightest night light when turned on.-The software while relatively easy to use and walks you through adopting and configuring a new AP and wireless network, isn't the most intuitive and I usually find myself looking around for where to change the various settings. A local program must be installed on your computer, ideally it could be controlled from a full web based interface.

Easy to install with smart phone Unify app
I mounted the AP-Pro on a wall and it looks really slick with the slim profile and blue led status light. I put this in a very central location on my ground floor and I get a strong signal from my basement all the way to my second floor. I highly recommend downloading the Unify app for Android/iPhone to configure it easily, so you won't need to install any software on any computers. Make sure you have a working internet connection going to it during installation or it won't work. Also, download a wifi analyzer to make sure it is configured to a channel with little traffic to get an optimal signal on the 2.4 Ghz and 5.0 Ghz connections.Keep in mind this is not a standard residential router with DNS/Switch it only serves as a wireless access point that connects to a router/switch. I actually disabled the wireless access from my service provider's modem and use this device solely as my wireless AP.

These are Great Access Points
The Unifi Access Points (AP) are very discrete and have very flexible features. The PRO version is particularly good as it operates simultaneously on both the 2.5G and 5G radio bands. The other PRO feature which may be useful is the second Ethernet port. This permits a string of AP's to be connected together without the usual point-to-point cabling. Mine are powered from a POE+ switch which is seamless; just plug it in and it works. I did not therefore use the POE injectors which had a European style mains plug (came from Germany), but this could be changed for a UK plug if required. The Pro version is 802.3af compliant so the POE injector in my case was not required. Some other versions are not compliant so be careful; in those cases you may have to use the supplied injector. The configuration is quite challenging, even for an expert so I would not recommend for a casual user requiring a single AP. For an expert requiring 2 or many AP's the online community forum is a good source of information to allow the controller software to set up a very versatile set of wireless networks. These AP's are particularly suited to large buildings where there is a mix of private businesses and public hotspots; all of which can run off the same set of AP's. I have seen people who think these can be used a wireless repeaters. As far as I know they can't; you will need to provide a wired back-haul to the LAN over the 1Gb/s interface. In terms of range, I am using two in a two storey sprawling building of around 400 square metres. Coverage is excellent indoors and outside within about 10 metres of the building, even with lots of clients attached and active. There is an long range version (LR) which has a longer range but does not have the same throughput, so make your selection carefully. The only downside really is the documentation as the user interface is not particularity self-explanatory. A day of trying various things needs to be spent to be truely confident about what is what but for someone used to setting up LANs there is nothing too quirky or scary.

Great product, unfortunately this one was defective.
Product review. I use these on a daily basis through work. Theses are an excellent product. However. The one I received was defective and the seller would not return my messages. However, I contacted amazon and they promptly dealt with the issue. Very impressed with amazon, not so impressed with the seller.
