Perfect for a car with no real track or if ...
Perfect for a car with no real track or if you don't want to pay $500 for custom. I put them on my new Lincoln. Yes, they leak when a bit it is raining, so what. What do you expect. If you are driving for 8 hours in the rain, that might be a problem for you, pay up and get the ones made for your car. I use these on my new car and go on the highway, no problem. Great purchase. If you need to know if it will fit you car look at the measurements and go measure your car. It takes 2 minutes. Thank you Rage Powersports.

Good value for the price
I am happy with this product as a solution to a lack of a roof rack on my older car (1997). These cross bars are very sturdy and easily hold the weight of my 71 lbs 8 ft row boat. I bought them so I would have something to set my boat on because I didn't want to set it on my bare roof.I attached the cross bars to my car's bare roof and then attached the row boat to the car - the boat easily rested (upside down) on the crossbars. I then went for a very short test drive - 3-4 blocks - to see if everything stayed in place - and it did except for one of the rubber caps that go on the end of the cross bars which fell off somewhere & I didn't notice it gone until the next day. These caps would not stay on and there was really no way to make them fit tighter but they don't affect the functionality of the cross bars.A couple things that were less than perfect: I did not realize until I assembled the cross bars that the telescoping feature is limited to where there are pre-drilled holes which is probably fine for most situations however I would like them an inch wider than where I have them set now but the next increment is more like 3 inches wider. Also, the feet that attach to the bottom of the 4 towers don't stay attached once they are off the car roof; and on the car roof they really slid around even after cleaning the roof and tightening the strap to the max. However for my purposed it didn't matter because I attached the boat to my car front and rear and around the middle with separate straps.

usable but far from perfect
We've done trips of about 450 miles each way with kayaks on top (using the kayak J-cradles available on Amazon) and the boats didn't go flying off. The biggest problem with these is the little rubber-like bootie that goes under the hard plastic support feet. They don't stay on AT ALL - you need to have a bag for them when you take the rack off. Even worse than the danger of losing them, if the rack shifts at all during your trip, which it will do, the hard plastic foot will slide right off the soft bootie, potentially scraping up your car roof. I tried securing them with silicon glue and with electrical tape, no luck either way. Part of the problem is that they barely have any lip to keep them on the feet - maybe 1/8", so there's not even enough of anything to glue to even if I could find the right stickum. I'm thinking I may have to just get some kind of anti-slip cushioning mat material to put under the feet, cut with a few inches extra on every side to allow for shifting during travel. If it weren't for that troublesome issue these would be great.

Great rack if your mechanical inclined.
Very sturdy bars much better than expected. Used two of my Huskey ratchet straps over the ones it came with. Went together in about 15mins first setup. Once together should come on and off in couple minutes. Boots are slightly shaped so pay attention this is very important to them staying on the rack. If installed correctly rack works great. Very sturdy and very affordable option if you only need racks occasionally.

DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK
DO NOT BUY THIS RACK!!! This rack is a waste of money, my loss will save you cash! Hate it and wish there was a negative 5 star option. The nuts and bolts do not fit and the flimsy rubber foot pads that are supposed to fit over the abrasive metal feet are a joke. The pads do not fit, end of story. Say good bye to the paint on your roof. I have decided to make this purchase not a complete loos and I will go to local big box store to get nuts and bolts that will fit properly and I will have to fashion some kind of foot pad with some kind of foam padding, not provided by the company. Please do not buy this product until all previous buyers have received full refunds!

Overall highly recommend for first roof rack purchase
Drove about 1100 miles with this on the roof of my boyfriend's CRV. We had a Tule on top of it. Thing held up incredibly well. Yes, the feet have cheap plastic/rubber bindings, but they did not scratch our vehicle and the Tule was secured throughout the whole trip. Definitely worth the investment if you are not planning on using them all of the time, however they may last quite a while if you are using them a lot. We just needed them for this single trip, so I cannot attest to the longevity of them. Overall highly recommend for first roof rack purchase. Also a plus, this should fit any car top since it sits flat on the roof.

low quality and poor design.
The plastic end supports are not very thick and I worry about how long they will hold up. The rods slide together, and came with four rubber end caps, however you obviously cant put one on the rod that the other slides into, nor can you put one on the end of the rod sliding into the other because it makes it to big. The rods themselves seem a little flimsy. My bigggest complaint is that since the rods slide together only HALF THE ROD IS THE 1 INCH IN DIAMETER advertised. Because of this, the kayak racks that I ordered do not fit one side of the rod without modification. The bolts supplied are very thin in diameter and definately wont hold up over time. The rods are held together in the center by only one bolt, and it is far smaller than the hole, thus the rods have a tendency to twist on each other. I would suggest buying different bars and if I had it to do over again would definately go with square bars and ensure that both halfs are the same diameter. The only reason i gave this a second star was that it was relatively inexpensive and shipped quick. Its a typical chinese made product, low quality and poor design.
