very cute
This is an adorable knife. I am rating it in comparison with what was promised/ advertised, not in comparison with other knives. I really like it. It is small, light, thin, and it works excellently for curing fruits and for peeling. The wooden sheath is also very useful, and it looks really nice. As others said, it is not very sharp, but that was not an inconvenience. I just sharpened it myself. I love the look of Japanese knives, and I did not expect this one to compare to other , more expensive , knives. After sharpening, the knife is a pleasure to hold in my hands, or to use on a variety of tasks, including peeling small cucumbers and cutting them, cutting smaller tomatoes, apples, and in general any small items. If needed, it could be used successfully for other vegetables, such as onions, bell peppers, etc. if I don't feel like using one of my other knives. Of course it doesn't hold an edge like the other Japanese knives, but it performs well. Overall I am very pleased with it.

SEKI JAPAN PROFESSIONAL FRUIT KNIFE, Small Peeling knife; point ended;
It has a housing that it can be kept in and protects blade. I had purchased this exact knife a few decades ago at maybe an Import/Export store. Was very happy to see exact knife here again. Love it. Very practical and I appreciate the housing feature as that is not always available. Sharp and cuts well. Same as my decades old knife..ha ha Thank you.

decent little fruit knife
I use this to prepare fruit for my child's snacks. It is sharp and the small size makes it easy to clean and sharpen as well. The only complaint I have is that the handle isn't the best. It's a bit light and not too comfortable, but not a huge deal on a knife this size in my opinion.

Love This Knife!
I've been using this knife for 50yrs now. I seem to lose them, so this is about my 4th one. Sheath fits well. Great sharpness. Easy to use. Price is an amazing value for this knife. Recommended!

Real Japanese Steel
This purchase was to replace a Seki knife I have had for over 30 years. The original is still sharp, but the wood handle cracked. The knives are REALLY sharp and excellent for fruit or cheese.

Good Fit
I ordered this item because the one I have had (for more than 30 years) just like this one was lost. These are nice little all purpose knives that I just don't want to be without.

Good for the price but requires sharpening.
Giving it four stars based on the price for construction. It's not a Shun, and not made of high end cutlery steel so keep that in mind. But for the inexpensive price is build pretty well. Besides the kitchen, it would make for a good food cutting knife for camping. The blade stock is thin but quite rigid. It doesn't flex as much as say a paring knife. I also own a Victorinox serrated paring knife (very sharp out of box), and the lower end Wusthof paring knife which also required sharpening. I would rate it built better, more stout, and much more elegant, than the Victorinox or Wusthof but I would rate the Victorinox serrated sharp right out of the box. This one needs sharpening and honing, and takes a pretty good edge, and once sharpened is functionally better than the Victorinox or Wusthof paring knives at a comparable price. It has a slight recurve near the tip which is really handy for scoring - for example, scoring a thick grapefruit or orange peel for peeling. Once sharpened it will do everything a paring knife will and more including brunoise cuts, and mincing onions and garlic. But, again, you need to know how to sharpen and hone a knife or know someone who does to bring it to its full potential. Keep that in mind or you'll be disappointed.
