Fantastic companion for AudioEngine A2+, Quality sub for Apartments
I've had a pair of A2+ for a while and love them, but after so long I felt I wanted some more power in the low-end. AudioEngine unfortunately only makes one subwoofer, and it's borderline excessive, dwarfing the A2+'s in size. So I went searching for a subwoofer that wouldn't look out of place design-wise, and was compact like the A2's. This sub fits the bill, in the ONLY exception that the cabinet is gloss, while the A2's are satin finish. Oh well, the sub stays under my desk anyway. It's small enough to be easily tucked into one of the squares of an IKEA EXPEDIT shelf next to my desk. So while I can't see it, I sure can hear it. The SUB6 is connected to the A2's Line-Out, which is volume-controlled by the A2's master volume knob. This is good so I can leave the sub's volume at a constant value and don't have to worry about adjusting two speakers simultaneously. For its compact size, it delivers clean, very audible low frequencies without hard thumping or rumbling. This is perfect for me as I live in an apartment and can't tear the walls down with sheer bass power anyway. I can't imagine NOT having the SUB6 now in my setup. Two notes:- The SUB6 only comes with a single mono RCA cable for connection. The A2+'s don't have a mono sub-out, so if you want the fullest bass I recommend using a stereo RCA connection to the sub if you're pairing this with A2's.- I can't stress enough how much I love the fact that the sub's volume and crossover knobs are notched and click as you turn them. It makes quick adjustments so much easier. (Say, if you have to temporarily lower the sub's volume. Much easier to put back where it was after.)

Perfect for 2.1 setup. Great sound and build quality.
This thing worked out perfectly. I have 2 in ceiling speakers in the kitchen. I had them hooked up to a small 2 channel amp, but the lack of bass was bugging me. I bought a “2.1” channel replacement and added this little sub on the corner of my counter. Made all the difference! This thing adds the perfect bump to my small kitchen setup. This is a high quality product. It looks cool and has a small footprint. My coax subwoofer cable run is pretty far - like 85 feet across the ceiling and in the walls etc. I have no buzz or feedback while music is playing. There is a very slight buzz I can only hear if I put my ear to it when no music is playing. Consequently even though I have the standby power mode on, it seems like the sub doesn’t ever shut off all the way like it should. I can live with it. I assume it’s caused by my long cable run, which I can’t avoid.I use the 2.1 amp with my Echo Dot and Amazon music. It’s been great. I tried this setup using Bluetooth between the amp and the echo dot. That option results in poor performance and sound quality. Using the dot’s 3.5 mm jack wired option and RCA plugs to the amp (with the sub pre-out and coax/subwoofer cable to this little guy) is WAY better.

Beef up your small system w/o breaking the bank!
I've had the Audioengine A1 desktop speakers for a while, and although they are fantastic speakers, my music was missing a bit of heft (I listen to a lot of rock/metal at moderate workstation levels). Enter this little guy. Audioengine makes a 6" sub too, but at almost twice the price, I decided no. There's a lot of room to maneuver in the world of subs, it being more about feeling than precision, so pretty much any well-made sub can do, particularly with a small system like mine. So this little guy is well-made, solid and puts out just what I need to bring a little more bottom to my A1s. It even comes in a matte-gray finish that matches. I've had it about 48 hours, and am putting it through its paces. It is EXACTLY what I needed. In terms of longevity I can't say yet, but boy am I enjoying this now. Give it a shot.

Pleasantly surprised at surprisingly good sound!
Was looking for something specific to match a shrunk down PC audio setup (From X7 -> Deftech BP7006 to Cambridge DAC -> AMP -> 2x Mythos XTR 50 which have 0 bass). Took a chance on this looking for something similar to a 6" Mirage sub I had years ago that used passive radiators to generate "bigger" bass so I had my doubts. The Mirage sub was also well over 2x cost, so I had expectations in check as well.Other than limited volume control, fairly large steps between clicks and I have no LFE control on the Amp, this little guy rocks. Build quality is top notch. If you are looking for something to add some bass to a smaller setup or don't require deep low bass go for it. Make sure that you are aware of the limitation of smaller diameter subwoofer going in and I think you will love this little guy!
