It Grinds
It did an excellent job on my chunks of pork roast that weren't worth making into steaks.

Upgrade from KA attachment. Do it now
Got onto sausage making and as per usual start of with the minimum needed that being a Kitchen aid grinder stuffer attachment. Quickly (as in that day) ordered a 5lb sausage stufferWell got this grinder and the sound levels, grind quality and speed are well well WELL worth whatever the difference is if you have the KA attachmentsThe two grind plates are more than enough to grind for sausage and multiple hamburgers I’ve done sinceOnly downside is I wish I would’ve done this from the get go would’ve saved a few Saturdays of work

Large sharp bone splinters in pet food
I have been making cat food for over ten years with a Tasin, which you can't get any more. I bought this grinder specifically because it got high ratings for making pet food. It feels much more cheaply made compared to the Tasin, but it did the job. But to my horror, I have been finding large very sharp splinters of bone in my cat food. I grind the chicken thigh bones first with the coarse plate, then run it through the finer plate with the meat per the instructions. So far my cat eats around the bone splinters but if she does ingest one it will be a problem. These splinters are large enough to get caught in her throat or damage her digestive tract. The first splinter that I found I assumed I had not been careful when changing plates. In the next batch I was supercilious in grinding, only to find larger and sharper splinters than before. I can't return the grinder since I make large batches of food to freeze, so it is past the return window, but I am really afraid to keep using it. Throw out a meat grinder that I have used twice?

limited grinder plates
very nice grinder for the money, the biggest issue is the unique grinder plates, the "ear'd" version that this grinder uses is limited to what you get, a 5mm and an 8mm, no other plates are available and the normal plates will spin when used.

Great Little Workhorse!
I bought this to make dog food. Eventually perhaps people food too. I found mine for over $50 less at the warehouse. Then after reading the reviews more thoroughly I became unsure and ordered another one. and then another one and tried to cancel the 2nd one. But it was too late. The third one arrives today. They are both STX.6 months ago i bought a Weston pro. Magnificent machine but nearly 40 lbs! I didn't want such a heavy one so I returned it. Then I bought the Kitchen Aid attachment grinder. Seemed to work very well. I was using it to grind chicken bones. But when I couldn't find chicken necks I bought wings and they bound it up. Probably the skin. My husband got it loose. But then earlier this week I was just grinding chicken meat and it got bound up again. So, I ordered this Weston. In spite of the reviews it seems like a great 5lb. machine. The review for this machine include another Weston of lesser power. I just did 23 lbs of chicken and beef and they didn't have to be semi frozen. As for breaking in four months; like at least two reviewers said, it will still be under warranty. I like that the gears are metal. It is noisy but not as noisy as my Blender on high. One of the reviews noted that the locking lever does not stay down. That is true. But I just cut off a little less than a 1/2" end off of a wine cork and then cut that in half. Then I pushed it into the hole to jam the lever down/locked during grinding. Pulled it out easily to clean the head. Very happy with my purchase.
