Keeps kitties warm and snug. The Opossum too!
Arrives compact. Went farther than I expected. Dried well after some rain blew in feral cat cottage. Keeps everyone dry and warm. We even see an improvement in shininess and cleanliness of fur. Cats choosing shelters with straw over one with fleece blanket. a little pricey this year, but worth it and I was thankful to get it because I couldn't get it in person this year.

Well worth the price
I believe this is my third year ordering and I’ll keep coming back! I use it as bedding in an insulated house for the not so feral anymore cats that have stolen my heart. It’s very clean straw that’s nice to work with. I love the fact that’s organic, very little (if any) dust, and it’s not chopped. Shipped fast and secure. Perfect!

Better than most for pet bedding, but not perfect.
I'm reviewing this from the point of view of using it as outdoor pet bedding. I manage the cats for my condo complex and have several shelters for them.Pros--Straw is long and best for bedding.--Cheaper than another company that sells theirs specifically for outdoor cat bedding.--Actually good for pet bedding unlike many other sellers who misrepresent theirs.Cons--Straw was dusty/dirty enough where I had to put on a dust mask since I was close to the straw and was shaking it to fluff it up.--Initially I got a few splinters and had to put on gloves. To be fair, it was still packed in the box sideways and I was pulling it out from the side instead of taking it out of the box and picking it up off the top. Which took a lot of force.--Not quite as soft as 2 other brands I had bought.Overall it is pretty good but not perfect. Has longer strands than 2 other brands I've used but is the most dusty of the 3, and just a little less soft. Cheaper by weight than the other brands as well. Overall I'd probably by it again. If they were able to cut down on the dust/dirt, I'd give it 5 stars. For those using it for mulching, yes, it did have a fair amount of seeds in it.

Perfect raised bed top-cover mulch!
Clean, light and airy -- large and "raw enough" to not clump or compact after watering - a plus! Very little wheat seed to be found in 12 lbs of this, so perfect for garden top dress/mulch...I used 12 lbs to cover 4 raised beds (each about 3' x 6' to 3" 8' each) about 2" to 4" deep as well as a few other areas that get hit hard with out Central CA valley sun in the summer. Not only will this help to keep soil temps regulated, but water saving will be incredible from much less evaporation. Added bonus of using straw like this for mulch? The light color of the straw reflects more sunlight back at your plants and their leaf undersides...oh yeah! :)

"Natural" and "Non GMO" is not the same as SAFE from HERBICIDES for gardens.
I bought 8lbs of straw. But I could not shake a bad feeling after spreading it on my tomato plants and some other veggies. Thunder Acres states on their website that they do not use pesticides...but what was bothering me was that they neglected to state whether or not they used any HERBICIDES at any point on their crops. So I called Thunder Acres to ask if the 8lbs of straw that I just used as a top dressing mulch on tomatoes had any herbicide at ANY POINT prior to planting the wheat season. They said that they DO actually use weed herbicide on the crops (such as cotton) in the prior year before planting the wheat the following year. Grateful for their honesty...but still Horrified. This means that their soil has a high probability of herbicide residue in it, and by extension, so will the next crop of wheat/straw. The average person cannot sucessfully grow many things if they do not first check the source of where EVERYTHING comes from and EXACTLY what was being used EVEN PRIOR to a new crop planting. Do not let the use of words like "natural" or "non gmo" or "pesticide free" and the like fool you into thinking that what you are buying is safe for gardening use. This straw should not be used in conjunction for growing foods that are sensitive to weed killer. If you use it for that purpose, you will be doing so at your own risk. In all fairness, my rating is based on my particular intended use for the straw as a cover mulch. I am sure it makes a nice animal bedding or whatever else people use it for. It does have a lot of wheat seeds in it...but that is normal.

Love this straw
I love this straw because of the way it is cut. Typically when you get straw, it comes in long pieces. This straw is cut fine making it very easy to use and it is very soft. I use this for feral winter cat houses for a local rescue org I support. I'm in the Northeast so we get pretty severe winters that are very cold. The only thing I feel is it is a bit pricey.

Works well for my outside animals
Kris so my outside animals warm and cozy in the winter. I live in NYC and there are not a lot of places for these animals to hide from the weather. Made some out door houses and the cats and opossums are grateful. ❤️❤️

My Rabbits Love to Sleep on This and to Eat It
I kept filling my rabbit's bed with this straw. The bed ket getting empty, but there was no straw to be seen. I like this very much as not only does it provide a nutritional supplement for my rabbit, it does not cause any clutter or pollution. Furthermore, when I scoop the rabbit poop for compositing, some of the straw gets mixed in with the poo, which makes for richer compost. I will not buy anything else from now on. Healthy for my rabbits and environmentally friendly.
