But it could also be for the men as well. It's John Carpenter's best film. Jeff Bridges plays an alien from another planet who comes to Earth to learn about the people. Karen Allen plays a young widow named Jenny who recently lost her husband Scott. When Bridges' ship lands, he enters her home and takes the form of her late husband. She is frightened for a while, but gradually learns to trust him. Through his learning and her teaching, they fall in love. Two big problems: 1. The government knows he landed and they are hostile and eager to capture him and do experiments. 2. He must get from Wisconsin to Arizona within days to get the next ship (his first one was destroyed), or he will die. Will he make it in time? This is a romantic film, but it's also action-packed. There are tense scenes between Bridges' character and many others, and lots of violence and chase scenes. Bridges was nominated for Best Actor for this role at the 1985 Oscars. He and Allen have excellent chemistry in this film; it's a shame they never did more films together. This is one film you should see at least once in your lifetime, but if you see it once, you will probably want to see it a lot more; it's unforgettable.

Good movie.

I must have watched this movie as a kid dozens of times back when it first made its movie channel run. I recall liking it but I had completely forgotten this was a John Carpenter joint until purchasing this Blu-ray Collector's Edition. The print they made this from looks perfect! It truly is a beautifully shot film. The rub here is the sound, however; It's very low for me as I do not have surround sound, so you might have to blast the volume to hear this movie like I did. Still, it's worth it to relive the film whenever you want. Nice featurettes in the bonus menu, too. I would say they should make a sequel set in present day bc Karen Allen and Jeff Bridges are both still with us, but Bridges has never lost his Rooster Cogburn affectation since making that film so I don't think he could ever recreate the alien today, which is a shame bc a good story could be written to bring these characters together one more time. Ultimately, this is a fun sci-fi roadtrip rom com which actually holds up to today's standards better than you'd think.

I love science fiction. I not a romantic movie kind of girl, but this movie. Jeff bridges is so sweet and helpless, so handsome 😍. Karen Allen is great. It’s a story I can remember seeing when I was young and being equally as hypnotized by the characters and story then as I am now.

以前、テレビ放送で見たのをきっかけにまた見てみたいと思い色々なところで探していましたがなかなか見つからず 格安でコチラの商品を手に入れることができて喜んでいましたが、届いた時にはスリーブケースがなく、パッケージを開けるとコーティングされていない為、表紙がプカプカ浮いてしまいます。 また、字幕ありと記載してあったので日本語だと思い込み安心していましたが、英語で日本語の字幕は、ありませんでした、今後は、きちんと理解してから購入したいと思います。英語がわからない方は、購入を控える事をオススメします。

Enjoyed this movie many years ago when it first came out. Found that I still enjoy

Already owned the UK-release of the film on Blu-ray, however this USA-release comes with extras, of which the UK version have none. There's a very good commentary from John Carpenter (director) & Jeff Bridges. There's new interviews with Carpenter , Bridges, Charles Martin Smith and script supervisor Sandy King-Carpenter. Vintage featurette, trailer, teaser trailer & TV Spots. The only snag is you need to import this disc and have a player that can play multi-region disc, If you do have one, you could do a lot worse than spend time watching this funny road movie. It's good!

For years I have been watching this movie on TV and the colors have faded badly over time which is a shame as it is in large measure a road trip through some of the best scenery in the USA. I am delighted that the original color is back in all its glory. This worth every penny. And I love the love story.
