Soil Moist JCD-10BKSMP Plus 10-Pound Pail

These moisture control particles work my absorbing water and ballooning up to many times the particle size and allows plant roots to tap into this water source during dry times - this means much less watering for us. Even though we live in an area that has a fair amount of rain, last summer, we had a really bad drought, so, I purchased this product to help in this regard. I've used this type of moisture control in small quantities in the past in the Bay Area and here in Indiana in some of my container pots with enough success to order a large amount. This doesn't mean that you can stop watering altogether but more moisture is held in the root areas longer, so, can mean less watering during a 1 - 2 week period depending on the hydrophilic properties of your plant species. I don't know the longevity of the particles but since I added a lot to our vegetable bed this year, I'll see when we cultivate the soil next year what is left.

This product is a life saver. I live in FLorida where the weather itself will kill any grass seed you put down in less then a week. Since we have water restrictions there is not much we have been able to do about it in the past, we have simply had to redo the lawn every year. NOT THIS YEAR! Now my grass is lush and green. Soil moiset cuts down on the water it needs, and this particular product has fertilzer built in. Now my yard is the best looking in the neighborhood! When we go a few weeks with out rain, every other houses lawn get brown and burt- NOT MINE! Everywhere I put it, (I put it in all my new plaants) the liage is green, lush and flowers are plentiful. I love it! I will be back for more in a few months!

I used this product for the first time this year and it seems to be working well. I have purchased bagged soil with this type of product included and used it in previous years but decided to add some additional moisture crystals this year. Some spilled granules quickly plumped up in the rain so I could see how well they work (accidental observation). As a word of caution, do no fill the plant container to the top with the dry soil/granule mixture as it will overflow with dirt when the water crystals absorb water. I will purchase this product again.

Have used Soil Moist and previously TerraSorb for many years. Back when you could buy 50 lbs and have it shipped for $118 including the product. I am very familiar with this type of product.Could find 20 lbs without the fertilizer. Price was very good for this one. Would buy again if it were available without the fertilizer. The poly crystals do what they are supposed to: hold water for the plants needs and "drink up" water to dry up mosquito puddles. Along with mosquito larvaecide, I sprinkle it under moist areas in Hosta beds and where other plants cover the evaporation more and the water might collect.For bedding plants the fertilizer formula is pretty good. Most of these products last, if undisturbed in the ground for 3 - 5 years. They also break down into water and Potassium, which is good for the soil.Product seems OK!

This stuff is amazing. My vegetables are huge and I only had to water them once when I first planted them in the garden. It has been raining a lot lately and on sunny days the soil is moist. I plan to use it on my lawn when I get enough topsoil to cover the granules as recommended on the container. I love this stuff!.

I bought the large size thinking I would get a better bargain on the water-storing polymer. Instead I got a diluted, diminished product partially filled with a heavy filler. Unlike the smaller sizes, the 10-pound pail is a mixture of unwanted, heavy, cheaper fertilizer.Substituting a low-cost, heavy ingredient for the desired polymer makes comparison of price per weight meaningless.tAdding insult to injury, comparison of price per container volume is misleading.. While other packages are fully filled, the pail was only two-thirds filled..Of course, for JRM Chemical, the manufacturer of SoilMoist, the product the filler and the opaque container make perfect sense.

I’m a landscape designer. I don’t plant anything in my personal SoCal garden without it. It’s a cheap insurance policy when planting in drought conditions. No brainer. Amazing price point per plant . A little goes a long way 🙌
