Fast, accurate, practical, affordable.
I'm ancient and have been mechanical since my first Erector set at around 8. Owned my first car in the 7th grade, so I've done more than my share of wrenching, and way more drilling than maybe the "average Joe". I learned how to sharpen bits on a grinder in high school, and have collected hundreds of bits of all sizes up to 3/4" over the years. And years. And.....years.Somewhere along the line I lost my touch for hand sharpening and bought a new (then) B&D bit sharpener. When new, it was ok. But soon, it didn't give good results so I just fought dull bits like most people end up doing. I recently bought a set of Ryobi bits in a case thinking they looked capable. But even on wood, they are a POS. So I went for the Drill Doc 350X cuz it fills all my needs and is pretty affordable. For the better parts of two days, I've sharpened all my bits (I'm guessing about 400 or more). and I've tested them on mild steel with excellent results! I even REGROUND the factory grind on the Ryobi's and came out with good bits after all! So, I endorse this nifty little machine, even at the risk of having some X Spurts out there slam my review. I like that it's made in Oregon. The designer had a great and SIMPLE idea and went with it. The ONLY thing I could complain about is that on some of the bits, I notice a slight burr on the leading edge, even when extremely careful sharpening is performed, BUT I'm sure the burr will be gone after a couple revolutions in nearly any metal or even hard plastic. THAT'S IT! I'm happy with my purchase. The instructions may be confusing to some, as they name the indexing cam two different names. I'm surprised the editor didn't catch that. But it only slowed me down for a moment. The act of inserting the bit is really a no-brainer. Have fun! I am. Does anyone want a couple used B&D sharpeners?

Incredibly simple to use.
This is the best money spent on a tool in ages. It paid for itself the very first time I used it by not having to buy new drill bits.

Works great!
....If you can read and comprehend directions. Sure, there is a learning curve. You need to understand the terminology and the relationship of the machine parts and how you use them. But, it's not that hard IF you follow the included instructions. After a few dry runs to confirm I was setting up the bit properly, it was smooth sailing. In hindsight, it's pretty fool-proof. Took about 15 minutes to sharpen 4 bits that were super dull. I mean, so dull that they just spin on pine wood. Bits that would only need a touch-up should take just a few minutes to setup and grind. The trick is knowing how long to set the bit for more grinding and less adjusting. If you set the depth strictly as the instructions state, you'll be doing several adjustments per sharpening which equals a lot of time. I set my bit a hair longer and it worked great. Razor sharp too!The good news is that even if you mess up a bit, you can fix it easily with the included troubleshooting guide. However, the only real way to make a mistake is to not have the chuck fingers touching the lead edge of the flutes. Do this and set your depth correctly and the sharpening part is a snap. This machine also shows just how off-center some of my bits were milled. I have common wood and soft metal drilling bits that are 118 degrees so this affordable machine is perfect for my needs.

Pays for itself the first time you use it
Like many people of a certain age, I have accumulated a bunch of dull drill bits over the years. I have a complete set, but there are always the ones that you hit a nail with or use on something a little harder than the drill. This device takes a little practice - not much. Once you get it, you’ll never have to tolerate a dull bit again. It’s game-changing.

It does a good job.
Mine does a nice job. The angle of the sharpened drill is correct, the chisel point looks good and is well centered, and the relief is good. The sharpened drills cut wood, aluminum and mild steel with no problem, forming nice spiral swarf. The sharpener is not difficult to use - but it is not a pencil sharpener. You have to be careful that the fingers are properly located against the cutting edge, and you have to use a firm, slow, smooth motion with the chuck pressed against the roller. There is a technique to learn. On some drills I had to reset the height multiple times to grind enough away so that there was a good cutting edge. It requires practice and patience, and a good magnifier light to examine the results.

works well
Took a while to decipher the directions but worked well. I ended up sharpening 60-70 bits that evening.

Voltage Warning
Just bought this machine for UK usage without checking details properly This machine is made in USA and is for 110v supply, NOT UK 240v.Voltage details are tucked away in details on extended product details and not immediately obvious on front page. Checked with manufacturer and their reply was as follows:-"Please NOTE: Regarding the purchase of a sharpener, do not be tempted to purchase a 110v sharpener, any product exported outside of the North America is void of any and all warranties. Use of a 110v unit on any type of step-down transformer or altering the power cord also voids the warranty. Even the highest quality transformers may experience power surges that will quickly burn out the motor with a risk of personal injury"Just had to return item - postage expensive !

Easy to use, works great
Should have gotten one of these years ago. I do not understand why some reviewers found it hard to use, it is veryeasy. Follow the instructions carefully, make sure the drill bit is aligned properly and you'll have no issues. I think some people may not be aligning the cutting edge of the drill properly, perhaps the instructions could be even more clear on this point. I was able to sharpen very damaged high quality HHS drill bits. Makes a huge difference having sharp bits.

useless instruction sheet
when you know how it works it is a very fine machine. I was not happy at all at first and almost returned the product to amazon because of instruction sheet... check videos on YouTube...

Sencillo y efectivo
Da miedo seguir las instrucciones pero la verdad si haces cada uno de los pasos sin tratar de adelantarte, es una excelente herramienta para sacar las brocas que uno acumula con el tiempo, y poner todas en uso.
